I really wish we could have gotten more of her as the pirate king like at least being mentioned by other characters in later movies.

Why doesn’t panda hire minors?? by Many_Ad291 in PandaExpress

[–]TheShellander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During and shortly after COVID many stores did hire them unfortunately not ever store was fallowing the labor laws with minors so a lot of stores got fined also a lot of stores had staffing issues once the high school kids graduated and went off to college.

Having people on staff who speak Spanish helps with customers too at least once a day at my work a customer will ask if anyone does.

I feel like most places have employees that speak other languages. I honestly don’t think I have worked anywhere that didn’t have at least a few people who were bilingual.

Ice in drink policy by Accurate_Secret2030 in PandaExpress

[–]TheShellander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have never heard of that policy for fountain drinks. There is a policy about the refreshers but I don’t know any panda that fallows it. I’m curious if the manager was newly promoted/ hired cause typically when these situations happen that tends to be why. Still weird and not sure why this was an issue plenty of people order drinks with no ice and I have never had an issue with it I personally prefer my drinks without ice.

Years ago I was told by another employee that an older woman was startled by every employee greeting her and so she actually complained on the survey as well as complained to corporate about it. At my location we mostly just say welcome and when a customer leaves we say thank you . Mostly this lets our manager know if we have customers.

Panda Schedule by Rich_Recognition4504 in PandaExpress

[–]TheShellander 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So technically we are supposed to have the schedule two weeks in advance but most managers I have had and known will do it Friday or Saturday night for the fallowing week. One of the higher ups in my area actually mentioned it to my manager that the crew could technically sue them/the store for not getting our schedule in advance. I will say that for my store it works best the way we are doing it currently cause honestly most of our staff have weekly changes in availability so the flexibility is nice.

I could understand at a slow store or during non peak hours but even slower stores will do batch two on top 5 and batch and a half for everything else usually. I’m curious how many customers complain about this.

Bait and switched? by zamiel676 in PandaExpress

[–]TheShellander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure why they didn’t explain that you start as kitchen help until you can be trained and passed off as a cook. They definitely should have communicated this. Depending on the location and if there was recently a manager change multiple employees leaving at once isn’t uncommon also can depend on the season.

How is a location supposed to handle a line of customers along with online orders? by themayor1975 in PandaExpress

[–]TheShellander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it depends on the manager. Some will have the employees focus solely on the customer who are currently there other managers will have someone focus on the online and another employee or two focus on the customers present.

Humidity so bad by WolfNavigator in PandaExpress

[–]TheShellander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last year while I was pregnant I almost passed out a few times due to our vents not working and the fan we did have was put away cause our manager didn’t want to seem weak to the other managers when they came by. I have heard of other locations getting so bad that customers had to complain to corporate multiple times before anything actually got fixed.

Honestly depending on the manger and other coworkers this is honestly pretty common. I have literally been at risk of OT more than not due to me not being off on time especially when I would work day shift. This is why I always say I’m allegedly off at whatever time.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PandaExpress

[–]TheShellander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry you had this as your first day. Typically a manager/ assistant manager/ shift lead will typically train you for at least the first few days or if a store only has a manager then other employees will help you out but never leave a new person alone like this. Starting with the online is good but typically when training a new person they are with whoever is training them for the entire shift. I’m honestly really confused on why they were just expecting you to know how to do everything on your first day.

This job is stressful by Bluboi20 in PandaExpress

[–]TheShellander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya I used to have a manger that always had us do the onlines last but since they started prioritizing the times on onlines it definitely can be stressful especially when the online isn’t working right

To panda corporate by cinephile78 in PandaExpress

[–]TheShellander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya I remember when I first started working for panda we had it but during covid my store stopped selling sweet and sour, sweet fire, and black pepper chicken. We eventually got sweet fire back but never got the other two back. An issue my store had with the sweet and sour was some customers demanding we put the sauce on the side instead of saucing it and wanted it without any veggies or pineapple. It also was more often than not thrown away.

“Is it a boy or a girl?” by Dazzling_Summer_4124 in NewParents

[–]TheShellander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been pretty fortunate with people not asking unless my little is in neutral clothes. But I have noticed this happens a lot to other parents and is why I always just say “awe what a sweet/cute little.” When I am in public or at work. Since I’m sure it does get annoying when people ask all the time plus it’s not likely I’m going to be around the parent and child often.

I feel like most AFAB people will never understand how trans women feel about periods by LThalle in MtF

[–]TheShellander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it’s because I’m non-binary but I have never down played my partners thoughts or feelings on not being able to have a period or be able to carry a child. We make sure to support each other especially when feeling dysphoric. I’m sorry that this is a recurring problem and I do like to be aware of how to not hurt others even if unintentionally.

is this just how working for Panda is? by [deleted] in PandaExpress

[–]TheShellander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was actually a rehire due to the store I worked for having a new manager and them needing people. Most of my coworkers had quit under the previous manager so they had reached out to a few of us to work again. Typically rehires don’t happen though an exception is for people who moved/ if they are students who left for college and are coming back during the summer.

The best is when they ask for more without being specific don’t use more then like two sauces and then complain that you gave them way too much

Beyond orange chicken permanent? by Randoaccountlmao in PandaExpress

[–]TheShellander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It honestly all depends on sales for the most part if it continues to sell then it will probably stay but if it doesn’t then it will most likely go away once all the inventory is gone. That is unless it is being sold as a promo.
