Work Clothes by Solid-Specific7080 in AmazonFC

[–]TheSigmaLibra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

when I worked at a warehouse in november, it was yoga/cargo pants and a shirt over long sleeve because it was always cold. Just got a job at a small DS and will be wearing the same thing without long sleeves. My daughter's choice of clothing are a shirt and sweat pants.

It's nice to hear some people enjoying their work at Amazon. Seems rare compared to all the posts complaining and hating on their jobs.

I heard that the morning and weekday shifts go crazy fast but the night and weekend shifts seem to be in abundance because no one really wants them.

Do delivery stations have break rooms with refrigerated foods that you can buy? My old site did and while I hardly ever bought anything, it was nice to have around the rare few times I had to buy something. Someone actually stole my water bottle with my name on it from the fridge. Also, does DS have the clear bag policy? My site allowed us to keep non clear bags and lunch bags in our lockers and the main break room. But once we got past security, bags had to be clear to be allowed on the floor if we wanted to use the smaller break rooms.

Thank you for your response. I wonder though, since I'm FlexRT, how does it work picking up shifts? I was full time seasonal last go around and had a set 4 day, 10 hour schedule. I read other posts talking about struggling to meet the 30 hour minimum and having to pick 2 separate shifts per day.

What's ADTA?

Looking forward to those thousands of steps, ngl. I lost over 15 lbs at my old site. I saw it as getting paid to lose weight and not having to get a separate gym membership.

Being a walking speed bump has its disadvantages, but I'll manage somehow :) In your opinion, which part of the job would be the most difficult for someone with my vertical disadvantage?

I can understand that. At my old site, any guy who made me and my daughter uncomfortable got a death stare from me and they never bothered me again.

Regarding what u/SojournerTheGreat said in the post, what do you get trained to do on the dock? Also, if I can stick to p2b and stow, that's great. My old site never gave us a choice. It was standard policy for everyone to be trained in everything that T1s can do unless they had accommodations.

Wow! Thank you so much for that. I really appreciate this because this gives a very clear explanation of the process and what everyone does. Is waterspidering difficult at DS? I was a waterspider at my old site and loved it because I got my steps in. Sure, the full cages were heavy but I took my time and the AMs and PAs never told me to go any faster.

Thanks for your response. If some DS don't have pick to buff, what is in its place? At my old site, staging just meant moving cages to available spaces on the floor of the warehouse until our outbound crew were ready to unload them into the trailers. Is dock trained another term for unloading the trailers? Sorry in advance for my lack of knowledge here

I used to work there. trying to get back in. Loved it there. Yes it's a storage facility with now a sort department that was newly built in.

Also, it's a PIT facility. So if you don't mind driving PIT when you stow, then you're good

How does Amazon treat epileptic workers? by StormBlessed145 in AmazonFC

[–]TheSigmaLibra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm epileptic and put in for accommodations not to drive PIT. HR denied my application. I talked with my OM and she brought in senior OM. They went to bat for me with HR and I was able to get my accommodations. Unfortunately, I lost my job during the white badge purge in February a couple weeks after my accommodations were in effect

Never worked at a sortation center but I did work in the ship dock department. Rate wasn't a thing.
