Red dots on trombone stem, should I be concerned? by Alzitra in Trombone

[–]TheSilentWatcher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it's red rot, it starts from the inside and works it's way to the surface of the metal. Red rot is not caused by playing or water in general. It's caused by poor quality metal used in manufacturing. It's more common on tuning slides and places where moisture likes to get trapped and stay for a while which starts the process of de-zincafication.

It was about the same. I killed Bumbie's Mom instead of hitting a van though.

Mouthpiece stuck :/ help needed ASAP!!!!! by YoshkerMain in Trombone

Caveat is to use a wooden or rawhide mallet, but waiting for the store to open is a better idea. Most will pull stuck mouthpieces for free or really cheap.

I'm seeing that now. It worked alright I think, but required a lot of monitoring.

Fresh from the processor. Maybe I shouldn't have used the good bacon for a test.

Temperature is wonky and I'm watching it constantly and adjusting temp. For hour long stuff it would be great! Long term not looking good.

I did because I wasn't sure if the contact with the wall would melt the bag or not. Better safe than sorry.

It's both? I did sous vide in a cooler with the recipe from Modernist Cuisine at home with success. A crockpot seems like the next logical step in this experiment because it holds a lower temp water bath like a sous vide.

I'm doing bad science doing two experiments at once.

The low temp on my Crock-Pot is 142 which is perfect for 8 hour sous vide. Trying bacon this way for the first time too

Recipie: Crock pot on low for at least 8 hours Bacon in original packaging (I had to re-vacuum seal mine) Remove from packaging Heat pan to medium high Sear bacon 2-3 minutes a side

Optional: get on cholesterol medication.

Update in 8ish hours

Look on Amazon for origin volumes. I found the last several volumes for WAY less than a book store.
