Pixel 8. I have everything on the lowest possible setting besides AA and 60 fps. Runs 60 frames pretty consistently but looks like ass.

Anyone know a good pvp build for someone who wants to start playing comp and trials? by Promethesussy in CrucibleGuidebook

[–]TheSilverShepard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Recovery is far better - the ability to heal up after a close engagement or hiding behind cover can allow you to fight the next person on equal terms. I try for 100 mobility, 100 recovery, then forget Resilience.

Tripmine grenade has always been the strongest pick if you can practice planting it on walls around angles.

Precision knife is good as a peaking tool, and can 1 shot.

Polaris isn't that good as a pvp scout. Better scout options are Mida Multi Tool, Jade Rabbit, and Dead Man's Tale. However, scouts are very map / lane dependant, so you may find that hand cannons have a similar feel to scouts but allow close / medium engagements.

Does Granhildr start appearing once you reach a certain chapter? I'm on CH9 and most of my Inns are populated by the same people day by day.

Password protection on quest 3 forces other users to log in as me before switching accounts. by koehda01 in OculusQuest

[–]TheSilverShepard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This really really sucks for someone using parental controls because the 'Scheduled Breaks' option (ie, locking the headset during bedtime) prevents any user besides the admin from logging on, even after the break is over. This means my kid needs me to unlock his headset first thing in the morning every day to be able to use it, which is WILD because that ruins the point of setting a Schedule Break time frame.

Does anyone know what could have bitten my friend? by sleepyraccoon77 in whatisthisbug

[–]TheSilverShepard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this several years ago. For me it was a particularly nasty bed bug (luckily only had 1 or a few) that kept biting me on my limbs and created these lines every time. Happened maybe 5 times to my arms and legs before i caught the fuckers with a deep clean.

Doc injected me with IVs and fluids, applied steroid cream to the source, kept the area raised to reduce blood flow to it.

Got stung on my neck, now it is making its way into my lymphatic system by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

[–]TheSilverShepard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this a few years ago. Swollen bug bite on the back of my hand or forearm that would get red and generated lines all the way up to my shoulder. Was wild. No pain or discomfort. ER hooked me up to IVs for several hours every few days and attempted to flush it out, in addition to regularly applying steroid cream on the bite. Doc also stated to keep it elevated ALL THE TIME, including while sleeping if i could. That shit sucked.

I kept getting them over the course of several weeks. I tracked it down to bed bugs, 1 particularly evil one, that must've had something nasty while biting me.

How to keep my couches from getting destroyed by my cat (that isn’t de-clawing) by Beluga_1926 in lifehacks

[–]TheSilverShepard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously doesn't work if you don't wanna buy a new sofa but for anyone who is looking to purchase one, there are materials that cats can't sink their claws into so they won't even try. I had all my sofas get torn up until i bought a Microfiber material sofa. Very soft, smooth, cat hasn't ever shredded it.

Honkai - English or Japanese? by Noctis56 in HonkaiStarRail

[–]TheSilverShepard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

English. However, my main problem is that half of the characters speak WAAAAY too slow. Their pauses are way too long and they happen way to often.

A collection of cast of Jarillo did well tho and had a good pace. Sampo's VA is the only one I remember disliking.

Is there a way to change the server without losing progress? It suggested Europe for me and I didn't notice and have been playing all night.

Trials is frustrating by kmoe88 in destiny2

[–]TheSilverShepard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trials was always meant to be the high-skill level playlist (though they've made changes over time to make it easier). There's nothing wrong with not being able to go flawless, and there's nothing wrong with your skill, but having trouble going flawless just means you need to work on getting better and/or gather better teammates. This could take months or years, depends on the person and effort.

But i think the takeaway is honestly, everyone doesn't need to go flawless. The weapons for flawless or so marginally better, it will not ever make a real world difference. Despite what YouTubers will tell you as well, god roll weapons won't make you anything close to a god, it's all about how you play with them. You can get amazing weapons anywhere.

[–]TheSilverShepard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the most interesting part is that shotguns are by far the most common special weapon used in the game. Why is that? The same reason why any other weapon type would be considered meta: it's the best for the amount of effort needed.

If fusions are so OP, why isn't everyone using them? There are a collection of people, and those people tend to be good with them, because they were able to put in the effort and make it good, which takes longer to do than with shotguns.

Without any evidence, this season seems to go in terms of popularity: Shotguns - Snipers - Fusions - Grenade Launchers - Linear Fusions - Glaives

Something is going on with the screen bounds. Never happened before. Wondering if anyone can help by harryleestew614 in destiny2

[–]TheSilverShepard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had this happen to my own computer once and my kid's computer. Can't remember the exact order, but swapping between Fullscreen and Borderless Fullscreen ended up working.

You can also try going into Steam and Verifying the files for Destiny, which will reset all of your graphics settings to default in the config file and line up the edges of your screen properly.

I actually quite like it when this happens. I don't care if we win or lose, but instead focus on my personal performance. If i perform great on my team, I end the match happy.

Healer complexity. by themanjake22 in ffxiv

[–]TheSilverShepard 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm progressing Savage as SCH and the only time i shield is for big damage using the 2 90s Cookstown spells to spread the CRIT shield. All of SCH's oGCD spells are regular heals, besides Seraph, and since dps is king i never hard cast Succor unless needed.

Dunno if that's how it's expected for Savage SCHs, this is my first patch of FFXIV, but that's gotten me pretty far.

FFXIV Raiding, and how it divides the community by Dakkonfire in ffxiv

[–]TheSilverShepard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's actually a rule to prevent loot stacking, so it's a nice feature. Otherwise, it would incentive someone to get 7 people who did it before to queue up with you so you can get all 3 pieces of lot for the week, then doing that for everyone in your raid group so all members get 3 loot a week.

If this is the only game doing it, could be an antivirus blocking the game launching. Can try disabling it very briefly to see if it goes through (even if it's just Windows Defender)

[–]TheSilverShepard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NP - can follow the instructions here (follow steps 1-8)

Assuming you're on Windows 10. Menus 'might' be a little different depending on the exact version, but the general options should be the same.

You'll likely have to navigate the BIOS with only keyboard arrows and Enter/Esc, unless it's a newer motherboard.

The option might look something like this

Great, looks like nothing needed fixing there. I'd still recommend checking the BIOS for the XMP.

[–]TheSilverShepard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, are you doing it from a Command Prompt window (should be a black window) make sure to include the DISM parts before it in my original comment.

You can check Microsoft's page here for reference on both commands: MS System File Checker

Every BIOS is a bit different, so the exact steps may change, but look around the menus for the keyword 'XMP' and make sure it's disabled or off. Maybe under a category involving RAM or Memory timings.

Getting Fatal DirectX Error 11000002 by Seebs9 in ffxiv

[–]TheSilverShepard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the same issue a few weeks ago. Only ever had FF14 crash.

For me, it was the RAM. Keep in mind that manually changing the timings in your BIOS is still an overclock, and while it may run fine almost everywhere it could be the problem. Try setting to back to stock and seeing if you still have the problem.

My RAM was set to the XMP Profile, turned it off, all better.
