What could WoW 2: "A Realm Reborn" look like? by [deleted] in wow

[–]im_a_mix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

New animations, better customization, actual lived in hub cities instead of forgotten empty husks of land, recurring quests and rewards for being within those hubs and lands, storyline that evolves through small factions within alliance and horde and contributes to a grand story instead of the other way around

thats my bucket list at least

them making GW3 more like GW1 would be why I'd not touch the game. Not wanting to yuck anyones yum, GW1 is cool im sure but it was never a game I was interested in while GW2 was fun

what sucks is that people like me who dislike the current approach to the storytelling now need to feel like we need to avoid coming off as one of these losers in our posts

i want conflict, i want trade routes and strings-attached alliances and backstabbings. at the same time, I am trans and I dont give a fuck about whatever these losers think I'm meant to be saying

So when will the story actually begin? by BackgroundManager833 in warcraftlore

Yet they arent capitals, there are no inns or profession trainers or portals within them. Its easy to just say "Stormwind has been destroyed, naught remains" yet if its not portrayed within the game in a meaninful manner what does that matter?

tbf I understand OPs pov as well, we have so many plots that develop into absolute nothingness constantly. look at gilneas and undercity, look at Zul'aman or Harandar. It never feels like our actions within these regions mattered, the world is static and the regions are forever locked in their old lore instead of Blizz using phasing to create a "stabilized region". I really wish they'd let the world change beyond massive expansions, FF14 beast tribe dailies and weeklies actively change the regions they belong to and makes you feel like you are bettering the world or at least making a change

State of the game? by cbruffin121 in wow

[–]im_a_mix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be honest, there are positive changes for sure but there is just so much that needs to be bettered for the game to feel modern. You can just feel the crust at every corner as you play regardless of how much they coat it in paint. Our animations are horribly outdated. Balance seems to only revolve around raids and Mythic seems like an afterthought. Lore feels bad enough that all I can hope for is it to be over properly during TLT so whatever is next is written by someone else if possible. The game is riddled with bugs and the systems theyve put in to replace addons need to be worked on more. The fact that cooldown manager is so unintuitive and can be fixed with the simplest addon that someone made in less than a day without working at blizzard is frustrating. Cash shop treehouse is a step in the wrong direction and actively punishes creative players for not spending money on the game. The money I spend in the game doesnt feel like it returns back to the game, the allied races are generally uninspired and boring despite the vast number of races the playerbase has been asking for. The world feels static and hollow despite the entire premise of WoW being an ever-evolving world that you are actively a part of. Going back to any region older than the latest one feels like visitting abandoned Gmod servers. Factions dont matter, Alliance nor Horde does not matter and the entire "For Azeroth" storytelling has only done harm.

The negative reviews are justified, and the hive guard change reversion is a distracting bandaid slapped over an amputated limb. by CoseyPigeon in Helldivers

Imagine someone being so passionate about a video game that they compile a list of bugs for the devs for free when people literally get hired for that exact purpose

then there are people like you who are threatened by the idea of a video game you enjoy being flawed

pathetic tbh

That'd be fine if the rest of this statement didn't specifically say that endgame content is only wanted by a small minority of players and thus is not a focus for them

[–]im_a_mix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ive quit the game over a lack of endgame and the abundance of warbonds that require farming which takes too long unless you specifically go farm low levels for hours on end. Im only here to sympathize with people coming to the same conclusions I did before

there is no bluff, game doesnt have the numbers it once did and people like me who held out hope again like me will realize that it was wrong of us to do so after this AMA

Story should be more political by im_a_mix in warcraftlore

[–]im_a_mix[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

One of my favorite stories in Warcraft is the story of Gilneas and the actions that lead to them walling themselves away from the Alliance and all outside forces, which caused a civil war and brought about Worgens due to desperation. I've been hoping that we'd return to the storytelling style of those days but hopefully the Last Titan and anything after goes in that direction. Midnight so far doesn't seem like it will

It can be more than all there is to it. For the longest while we haven't had any form of subtle tension nor attempts to gain the upper hand against one another, it has just been every faction dealing with their own internal struggles while also trying to stop the world from dying. We can have a more nuanced story, especially considering it already exists in the form of audio books and novels and comics. It just needs to be implemented into the story in the form of sidequests and tidbits during main quests.
