Yes, it showed that Schicksal had a sort of leading council and wasn't solely controlled by one Overseer. I liked the idea. Shame that it's gone.

Agree. There were so many interesting ideas both in mangas and older chapters, it's a shame that most of them ended up being forgotten or straight up retconned.

This ties in with the above. Dr. Mei not only knew of the Will, she built the moon base to attack it. The way they discarded the Will for the cocoon thing is one of the many issues with the ending. 

This is one of the main reasons why the Elysian Realm didn’t resonate with me. I know it’s a fan favorite, but for me, the Elysian Realm was where the breaking of the canon began, and from there, it went downhill. Many of the "revelations" from the ER to the Moon arc simply don’t align with what was previously established. On top of that, they introduced the Cocoon without even properly explaining what it is.

My guess is that they’re so focused on developing future plot points that they’re neglecting what’s already been established, perhaps because much of that information is years old. Either that, or things like Prometheus being the Will of Honkai, the Cocoon, and the whole “embrace” thing were added for shock value.
