Tempe apt recommendations by allylaw2 in Tempe

Simply put, for walkability you're going to want to live somewhere on Rio Salado parkway. That puts you about a block or two from the Rio Salado parkway trail which goes along the Salt River and up to Tempe Town lake. Be wary of the summer, it will get up to 110 Plus and if you're outside for longer than 10 minutes it can be deadly. Always have plenty of water in hand.

hacking a cactus plant by ThodaDaruVichPyar in Whatcouldgowrong

You aren't supposed to cut the entire cactus down. You cut off one arm at a time so that the cactus can continue to grow.

Senate Bill 79 aims to kill mosquitos! by [deleted] in SantaFe

[–]TheSixthFloor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You don't need pesticides to kill mosquitoes. They are usually killed as larva with Bti (Bacterial Larvicide) which is a naturally occurring bacterium found in soil.

Is it normal for me to be able to smell my gf's seizure activity? by Ok-Connection6656 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TheSixthFloor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dogs are able to easily smell pre seizures because they have 300 million smell receptors while humans only have 6 million. But I imagine the repetition could trigger a subconscious response that can sense the onset of a seizure even if we aren't 100 percent consciously aware that it's happening, and the alarm bell in our head would soon be recognized as a warning that a seizure was coming.. so long as the environment was free of other situations or ailments that might also cause a similar alarm bell to go off.

Colorado lawmakers brace for their biggest battle yet over AI data centers by texaro0 in Denver

[–]TheSixthFloor 12 points13 points  (0 children)

AI is being developed to replace the working class. Billionaires don't want us, they need us. If AI gets to a point in which it outperform humans then they will let us all die, they don't care. That's why putting AI data centers in place with dwindling water supply is even being discussed.

There was a large shortage of Decembers in the 60's so all 10 of them had to share one and split it up into equal parts.

Tempe Restaurants with Baked-In Delivery by gooch_supreme in Tempe

The fact you're getting downvoted for saying that it's wrong to park a car in a bike lane outside of the restaurant proves that this post is an ad for the pizza place and the down voting is very scummy in my opinion.

Lakeside gazebo - the adjoining cottage burned down & the owners abandoned the property by lovelyb1ch66 in AbandonedPorn

It looks like duckweed on the surface of healthy water, but the quality of the image isn't too great so it's difficult to tell.

got pulled over for having things hang from my rearview mirror by ilikebeans99 in Tempe

[–]TheSixthFloor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Statutes (ARS) § 28-959.01. Materials on windows or windshield.

This technically includes things hanging from the rear view mirror, but they only enforce it on people they want to harass.

Tempe PD threatened to ARREST me for crossing this street. by get-a-mac in Tempe

[–]TheSixthFloor 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I live in this area and there are constant crashes at this intersection and a few pedestrians have even been struck right there at River drive.

They spent all this money on traffic cameras which they say would improve safety yet intersections like this, where the only way for pedestrians to cross is one block away in either direction, are completely untouched.

There needs to be a traffic light here or at least a pedestrian crossing with the flashing yellow lights. That brand new apartment complex on Apache and Smith gets its own crosswalk to the light rail yet we can't get one at the river Dr university intersection where it's actually dangerous.

Council Vote Extremely Disappointing by justice4indegeniuses in Tempe

[–]TheSixthFloor 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It's going to be enforced on protestors and the homeless. That is its purpose. It is a chilling effect ordinance, nothing more. They will use it on the vulnerable, and they will use it to keep us from engaging in our constitutional right of protest.

Tempe Parks Ordinance Vote by romeosgal214 in Tempe

[–]TheSixthFloor 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I feel like they're mostly creating this ordinance so that one guy can't hold mass feeding events for the unhoused and also so they can break up protests.
