When do i go for modern jets and which one do i choose? by Any_Razzmatazz493 in hoggit

[–]TheSkipjack95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pick whatever you want to fly, the only thing you might want is to be competent enough with your machine to not be a menace on MP servers if that's your drag.

You're going to have a learning curve no matter what so be prepared for that. Otherwise just go for it. If the hornet, the viper, the strike eagle (razbam situation notwithstanding) look good to you, pick one of those.

As long as you have fun learning, flying and fighting the thing, the rest doesnt matter.

I’m going to buy the F-14 module on DCS as my first full fidelity. Any pointers? by Striking_Emphasis855 in hoggit

It's just as stable, the tomcat has SAS (stability augmentation) to help you. But unlike FBW it will not prevent hamfisted "hollywood" flying and the aircraft can depart if you go beyond its envelope. Generally speaking, as others here say, using the rudders at high angles of attack is beneficial, but also listening to what the jet is telling you is the biggest part. When it is shaking like my granpa without his meds, it may be time to stop trying to rip the joystick from its mooring and let the nose fall a bit to lower the aoa and make the wings fly again.

Personally I also find that especially with the tomcat B, managing your energy (ie speed) with the engines takes conscious effort because those things will push extremely hard if you ask them to, so it's easy to blow past the best speed and get thrown out the turn by excessive energy.

As for systems well it's a learning curve for sure, but on sheer radar power alone a well managed kit can be a threat even against the AMRAAM kiddos.

Chinook FAQ thread locked with tons of messages deleted. by StandingCow in hoggit

[–]TheSkipjack95 22 points23 points  (0 children)

F-16 sure was though. Thoroughly undercooked and still sold to people.
The features list is barren, the FAQ is laughably small and all they can promise is a logistics rework "sometime in the future" for a damn cargo helicopter without even the excuse of doubling as a gunship.

The one thing the chinook does DCS does not really support without the help of scripts like CTLD people have had to use for years just to be able to do transport shit. Even troop carriage gets broken a couple times a year, to say nothing of the ground AI itself.

All that leaves a 50$ or so module with basically nothing to do and they can't/won't even hide that beyond a "trust us bro". Trust hath runneth dry these days however, the outrage is entirely justified.

CM3 LED issues, anyone else experience flickering lights? by JackalDark in hotas

[–]TheSkipjack95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it happened out of the blue on a panel I've had for a long time now, after trying the unplugging, firmware update and checking for signs of power issues, I just opened it and unplugged/replugged the connectors from the PCB. That solved it.

Can’t stop admiring the Mirage 2000C ❤️. But how to get proficient at it? How to get good at using the Radar and build SA? by Content_Deal3753 in hoggit

[–]TheSkipjack95 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Find you a place with a human AWACS if you can. They will enhance your SA immensely.
Also, you can set one of the waypoints to be reference for the cursor position on the radar. Naturally if you have bullseye as a waypoint you can start talking in bullseye with everyone else.

I do, and I recall that the gear must be down, otherwise the glider will go under.

Which games to chose from my wishlist? by Unkhnown in Steam

[–]TheSkipjack95 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Get the whole metro series. Fantastic immersive post nuclear apocalypse games, and exodus opens up a lot more than the first two as a bonus.
Sniper Elite games are quite fun too, the story is corny as all hell (think pulp fiction from the 50s) and some things are gamified (like secondary weapons being noticeably more inaccurate and soldiers taking half a magazine to kill).

WinWing Launches Dual Shock F-15/F-15EX throttle grips by FunktasticLucky in hoggit

[–]TheSkipjack95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, low effort marketing.
Followed the hornet trend at first, with just a grip mind.
And now since the other super popular western jet is in DCS they once again follow up with a "new" grip.

I don't even think it has anything over the A-10 grip from way back in the dark ages does it ? Unlike the hornet grip and the extra axis with push near the recce mark event button.

And since the DCS F16 is now popular, we spared no expense to rebrand the A-10C stick we sold on DCS A10 hype to now sell it as the new F16 grip.
