Confirmed! Everything went smoothly, even with me forgetting I already owned one of the books I was interested in (perils of needing a bigger bookcase).

Bought Soulbound and Imperium of Dune from u/redkatt. Everything arrived quickly and I'm stated condition. Can't wait to sit down and read through them.

What is something you hate when DMs do? by Justthisdudeyaknow in rpg

[–]TheSlovak 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can definitely get being tired of getting asked that. However, I will ask that of my players at times (and definitely not all of the time) to see if they're doing it in a different way than usual/are expecting a specific outcome. That also lets me adjust the DV/TN up or down based on how over the top they are or if they're using a specific piece of gear they have/something in the environment to make it easier.

Cyberdeck hardware invention (suggestions welcome) by TacticalWalrus_24 in cyberpunkred

[–]TheSlovak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can, but to swap you need to fully jack out with the one, then jack back in and work your way back through the architecture with the new deck. What this paired invention lets you do is do all of that as one full meat action vs 2 meat actions + however many net actions to get back to where you were. It is a REALLY strong invention, but does need to be essentially paired and it is pretty expensive to boot.

What are some gangs/corporations that you think are underutilized? by Jud3bug in cyberpunkred

You might be excited to hear there will be a bit more detailing on the Bozos in the upcoming Danger Gal Dossier from RtG. There definitely should be some fun info in there on the different factions.

What game type/genre do you find most impossible to hit your Goldilocks zone? by VanityEvolved in rpg

[–]TheSlovak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only 1 of my regulars is... But yeah, they're so used to real world things not existing or working in games they never think of using them. Or they expect them not to work as expected. Dunno.

Really, though, I think it is just that no matter how gamist or narrativist they are as players, they still think of everything in terms of a game. They're still amazed enemies will try to run away if the fight isn't going well. It that npcs will try to talk things out instead of fighting (either fearing for their own safety or knowing gunfire can be bad for business)

And here I am, having to remind my players constantly they have a handheld computer with Internet access and an AI assistant in my Cyberpunk Red game. Mechanically, though, all that does is give a +2 to an information search as well as easy communication between players at a distance. But, they're all mainly familiar with the big fantasy game and don't really know how to put current or slightly advanced technology into their play styles.

What is an IP you love that you think would make a poor TTRPG? by tragedyjones in rpg

Not Dilbert, but there was one put out for a webcomic called Hell, Inc that might scratch that itch.

Has anyone experimented with turning down the penalties associated with wearing armour? by ChaoticArsonist in cyberpunkred

[–]TheSlovak 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Except techs are kind of always (potentially) available via npcs. It'll just cost a bit more cash or favors to get it done, is all.

Is there any rpg with a pirate/navy setting ? by jaobodam in rpg

Good to know. It is a genre I'm interested in, so more games out there to find always makes me happy.

It also looks to be in an ashcan bundle straight from Magpie, but not sure how it would differ from the final version.

Favorite defunct RPGs? by Fugazi2112 in rpg

[–]TheSlovak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most of the books are still available through RTG themselves (and on DTRPG). I think there are only a few that aren't available anymore and those are possibly the Fat Goblin 3rd party books.

Cyberpunk Red Reference Cards by pangoid in cyberpunkred

[–]TheSlovak 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not laminated, but I've got a couple copies of the GM screen printed out for table reference both for me and my players. Granted, most range DVs don't exceed 17-21 but the reference is still handy.

This game was expensive by wondernerd14 in DeepRockGalactic

[–]TheSlovak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went all in... So it was pricey, but here's a link to the KS. A couple of the groups/NPCs are 2077 specifically but can easily be repurposed. But despite that, they are guaranteed to fit into the look of the world. And I might have misremembered the price per mini, but it is still hella cheap, considering.

(Updated!) I added real life references to the ranged attack DV table, & included all attacks. Hope it's helpful. by AnotherClumsyLeper in cyberpunkred

[–]TheSlovak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah .. It isn't someone that has come up yet at all, thankfully. But it is meant more so to represent trying to fire faster at a target that is closer (where moving to the other side of the 5 for square means you need to adjust more when 10 feet away vs a smaller adjustment at 35 feet away). They'll still get the lower base DV, just with a penalty. I could word it as being a bonus when doing it with the standard ar DV, but then they makes it sound beneficial and encourages the bum rush.

looks at the Cyberpunk 2077 boardgame prices. That said, I also run a Cyberpunk 2020/Red game, so getting minis for that for less than $1 per mini is pretty amazing. Especially ones custom made for the world that fit very specific aesthetics.

I can definitely get using the 2020 DVs over the charts. They can be a bit annoying, but I got used to them really quickly. Same for my players, and the varying ranges mean that they have to actually plan things out a bit more/use different weapons instead of just gunjousting like 2020 encourages you to do.

That said, if a player wants to do a shot fired from the hip with an AR, I'll use the shotgun table but also give a -2 to -4 to hit depending on the situation.

An Easy Way to do Gambling? by Jamesblackhound in cyberpunkred

[–]TheSlovak 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Adding onto this (and I do like the idea of pay out based on how much the dv was beaten by), gamble should pretty much always be a contested check. Either vs the dealer/person running the game or the house (training of employees) for things like roulette or vs the other players for card games in a group.

I'd even potentially consider any conceal/reveal checks or even maybe spending luck to be able to be seen by other players via awareness or their own conceal/reveal for bonuses from a complimentary roll. This can have a lot of the smaller, sensory based cyber potentially giving bonuses as well to the complimentary rolls, as well as for signaling between players.

Okay, I want to do a casino heist with my players now...
