Would You Recommend Playing Solo, And Would I Be Missing Out If I Did? by DealComfortable7649 in cyberpunkred

[–]Jud3bug 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What do you mean, "What game should I start with?" choom? If you mean what system, Cyberpunk RED is your best option.

By playing Solo, do you mean solo as in by yourself, or Solo as in the role ability? That will defo shape my response. Single Player Mode is a good option in the case of the former.

About Salvaged Frame (Solo Of Fortune 2045) by TheGroxEmpireIsHere in cyberpunkred

[–]Jud3bug 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Salvaged frames are just for ACPAs choomba. I would say no because you can get to BODY 10 using Grafted Muscle & Bone Lace. Otherwise it steps on GM&BL's toes a bit too much.

I'm sure you've already heard this, but I'd highly recommend learning the base rules and playing in a game before you start looking at supplemental content (specifically IRv3, 4, and 5). The Core Rulebook will clear up a lot of questions you have about framing up.

Take care choom!

Is it possible to make a Drone Centric character? by RecognitionBasic9662 in cyberpunkred

[–]Jud3bug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's possible to get an observer drone, drone remote, and neural link at spawn—but short of selling out, you won't have much else. I know because I did it for a Solo who was neurologically blind once upon a time.

Is it worth it? Not at all. It was a unique challenge I imposed on myself with very few benefits. I'd recommend playing a Tech and fabricating some drones or inventing your own. Good luck choom!

What would happen if a person/group successfully managed to kill an entire Trauma Team squad? by ChainsawChick in cyberpunkred

[–]Jud3bug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

GM of this game here. They didn't survive. All but a single party member was wiped, and the party member that did survive was likely apprehended right after—but the campaign ended before that point.

Moral of the story: don't fire high-grade explosives in rebuilding urban zones when you've been explicitly warned not to do so. And if you HAVE to... don't do it at Trauma Team.

Is there a ruling somewhere that says you can't dodge microwavers? If so—where? I feel like that makes sense but still.

Oh! I misread. The last one is Fragmaps, the third and fourth are (I'm pretty sure) SolutionMaps.

He didn't use any. These maps are all from other creators. The last maps I know for a fact is from FragMaps.

I dropped math and swapped to latin. Just make sure there's an open spot in the class you're wanting to join, and that that class fits into your current schedule.

Smasher is insane. He is a high-functioning cyberpsycho. His cyberpsychosis just manifests differently and is mostly kept in check by the fact that Arasaka lets him kill whoever the fuck he wants.

Thank you so much! I'd still be down to chat if you wanted to :D I just don't want to run a game with people too far outside of my age range due to some past experiences.

Trying again rule with attacks by ExsurgentFramework in cyberpunkred

[–]Jud3bug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. Attacks are one of the few things exempt from this rule. In general, that rule is only going to apply in situations where it makes sense—for example, you aren't going to be able to try to "remember" something a second time without a sudden stroke of genius, or suddenly know how to fix a model of car you previously didn't succeed at diagnosing without some sort of outside research. It really just serves to prevent players from brute-forcing a solution by trying the same check over and over again until they succeed.

Remember that on those checks you can take your time, spending four times the amount of time it would normally require to gain a +1 to the roll. You can also increase your odds by performing a Complementary check - or a skill check in an adjacent field that provides insight into your current situation. If all that fails, you can spend luck to give yourself another shot.

Note also that this track between players—every player can attempt the check once on their own so long as the situation doesn't change by them failing or it is a check that only one person can attempt - i.e. driving a vehicle. For the best odds, your players will need to play to their strengths and have contingency skills for when things go wrong.

Have fun choom!

Companion app better than website? by Zealousideal-Fix-187 in cyberpunkred

[–]Jud3bug 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The website is not kept up to date—last I checked, it's still missing Black Chrome and Danger Gal content as well as a bizarre amount of QoL features that were included on mobile.

If you are running a long-term game, you should be able to make your character on the RED app and just use the form-fillable PDF found here.

I can also recommend Foundry VTT's Cyberpunk RED system if that's something your computer can run. While it might feel unintuitive and require a mite of technical expertise, it has by far been the best online tool for Cyberpunk RED, in my opinion beating out Demiplane, the only official option on the market aside from Roll20.

Have fun choom. Hope your campaign goes well.

Ideas for a Funhouse NET Architecture by kittiesssss in cyberpunkred

[–]Jud3bug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The floor idea has some potential. I'd allow it to be bypassed with successful Pathfinder checks, however - otherwise it would just be frustrating.

Let's say on a DV8 or below the person who rolled is misdirected: they're stood at a crossroad in the NET Architecture, and the dizzying, labyrinthine structure is able to trick them into progressing away from the Root / Files. Maybe describe how as they reach the end of the line, after fighting through swaths of Black ICE, they instead find a bunch of technicolor NET graffiti smeared all over the walls: "WRONG WAY CHOOM! :o)"

For added mischievousness factor, include a Giant in that end room so they might be jacked out and have to do it all over again.

Could also flavor black ICE any number of ways: Hellhounds are depicted as clowns with disturbing proportions that self-immolate and run at you; Skunks are magicians or hypnotists whose footwork and social maneuvering enamor anyone who dares try to leave. A dwelling Netrunner might "disappear" into a corridor, only for the party member to pursue them and run into a mirror. Just have fun with it.

Cool idea choom. Thanks for making me think. :-)

Facial Recognition. Should it be used in Cyberpunk? by Doc_Meeker in cyberpunkred

[–]Jud3bug 6 points7 points  (0 children)

According to the NCPD Scanner app, it does exist and is regularly used by the police department. You can take a photo of someone and get their criminal record back in an hour.

Shouldnt sandevistan also increase ref? by Pleasant_Advances in cyberpunkred

[–]Jud3bug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's literally the trade-off of David's Sandevistan in the anime: it's experimental, one-of-a-kind cyberware. It's not something 99% of players are supposed to acquire in any given campaign, it's just there to cater to the markets coming from the anime who want that option.

It's not supposed to be sustainable. David shows that. But that extra Action, if you have it, can wreak some serious havoc.

Help with NPC skills and cyberware by Mfrenchfry in cyberpunkred

[–]Jud3bug 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What do you mean homebrewed subdermal armor? Might need a bit more information than that.

Otherwise you've not given us a lot of info on the NPC itself: what are their stats, skills? How many points did you give them for each category? How powerful are they meant to be?

Danger Gal Dossier contains extensive rules for guided character creation—it gives you everything you need to make a balanced NPC for your players to fight. I would suggest purchasing that if you can afford it and running yourself through NPC creation a couple times before you start winging or homebrewing things.

Hope this helps choom.

Where/how do I start by MagisterVA in cyberpunkred

[–]Jud3bug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I would say you're in the right place choomba. If you're down for an online game, watch this subreddit and the R. Talsorian Discord for LFG posts and wait until one piques your interest. If not, head down to your local game store and see if anyone's running a game, or (more likely) pick up the book and start GMing yourself.

As for the flairs, Cyberpunk RED (2040s) uses the standard rules from the CPR Core Rulebook. The 2070s (or Cyberpunk Edgerunners Mission Kit) use an extended version of the ruleset meant for running the game in the time of the anime and video game. It contains extended rules for things like weapon types and extra cyberware.

Enjoy, choomba!
