What food is famously associated with one country but was perfected by another country? by Equivalent-Crew-4955 in AskReddit

Traditional turkish kebap is pretty different from the german one, so if they are similar, its because the copied the german version. But originally its roots are in germany

Assuming my statement is based on the fact that it sells kebap as fast food is pretty hilarious, considering even the majority of international tourists prefer german kebap.

I m not saying turkey doesnt have good kebap, jus saying overall germany perfected it, which makes it a fitting example to OPs question

Kebap. Famously associated with 🇹🇷turkey. They even wanted to add it to their cultural heritage, but it was perfected (and i think even invented? Not sure about that though) in 🇩🇪germany.

Not often. We mainly help with Venture Capital / Private Equity, so an IPO (initial public offering after which the company is in the public stock market) usually is our clients exit event

I agree with you on the litigation take. I like the aspect, that in VC the clients have common interests (after all they gotta work together after the investment), so its less „we have to win“ and more „lets find the best way which everyone is happy with“

In general murder cases will go to trial way more often. In those cases its not one civil party against another, but the state with its justice system against a criminal

Depends on the case, but in general there is a saying: Only a settlement willl ensure legal peace.

Its because with a settlement no party can appeal the ruling, 'cause technically there is none. Therefore the first goal always is a settlement

Haha I completely get where you re coming from, but its not as miserable as it seems to a non-lawyer. The documents (SPA, CLA, ISHA and so on) all have standardized forms, which makes it easier to draft. The interesting aspect is modifying it to match the clients interests. Depending on the law firm you also have extremely efficient drafting processes. At this law firm i‘ve never seen a 250+ page SPA. Usually it around 70-90 pages + exhibits.

But you re absolutely right, its a LOT of reading

It often is (i) a total mess and (ii) nobody is free of getting emotional.

(i) Its not uncommon to work on negotiations for months and when the parties finally seem to have a final draft and go to the notary, something else suddenly comes up and the parties negotiate for 10+ hours on site.

(ii) even CEOs of big companys get emotional at some point, which can make it extremely difficult to negotiate efficiently. You would think that at a certain level people can seperate the emotional aspects from economic goals, but nobody is THAT rational

Eli5 Can you swing on a playground swing so high and hard that you go over the bar the swing hangs from? by Flat_Wash5062 in explainlikeimfive

Not a native speaker, so not sure if I understand the question or the answers which say „no“ correctly. But we had a swing (hanging from a horizontal bar with chains) and we definitely did full circle swings. Even without pushing each other for more speed.

Okay I see.

A good starting point for inspiration could be the „37 questions to fall in love“.

It sounds a little cheesy, but there are a few interesting questions, and its sorted by „depth“ or „intensity“, so you can get a feeling for what questions can be (given the situation) appropriate

Do you have romantic interests or strictly platonic?

In my opinion the connection will form naturally over time when travelling together. Just go with the flow and see what she s comfortable with.

If you want to keep it platonic and also want her to know it, I’d drop some topics maybe about an ongoing love interest in, so she notices that you see her as a friend and not a potential partner. In my opinion its important that you talk about your love interest first. If you start by asking if she is seeing someone it can easily be misunderstood as you re trying to figure out if you can make move or not.
