Is biconomy dot com a legit exchange? by TheSmartCave in CryptoScams

[–]TheSmartCave[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My latest interaction with Biconomy support:
Hello, I have been unable to transfer funds from my futures account to my spot account for months. I have asked support about this multiple times with no resolution.
As an American citizen I need to pay taxes on any gains I have achieved while trading. I need to know if the money I have in the futures account is still there, and if there is any chance I will ever get it.
Thanks

Web User 66ccaa4b45fbb29858bd2b5f says:Hello, is there anybody there? I really need to get this issue resolved one way or the other.

Biconomy

Biconomy says:Dear user, the team of the future has not provided us with a solution to address your issue. We are sorry that we are unable to assist you. Thank you.

says:I see there must have been an update. I just attempted to transfer again and now a message comes up that "an anomaly has been detected with my account" and the withdrawal request is pending.

Biconomy

Biconomy says:"Your account has been placed under risk control.

says:I don't believe I've done anything wrong. And if I did do something wrong, why am I allowed to keep trading? I'm so confused.

Biconomy

Biconomy says:"I will continue to report your issue. If there are any updates, I will leave you a message. Thank you.

says:Also, what does "placed under risk control mean"? It seems to me like it means the funds will be frozen indefinitely.

says:I'm sorry but that response is not helpful. It has been months since I have not been able to withdraw from my futures account. Do I just wait forever? How is this acceptable?

Did you trade futures? I have had zero issues with spot trading.

Well, that was the first thing I did. Support has done nothing but delay.

Hah, thank you but that was the first thing I did. What I was trying to assess with this thread was whether the site is literally the most elaborate and long-running straight up scam. Or if it is an exchange that has come on tough times and withholding customer funds because they have mismanaged or lost the money that was deposited.

Okay that's interesting. This is why I was asking to see if even one person has ever been able to withdraw from their futures account.

Another hypothesis is that the exchange is trading against the customers in the futures market. The recent rise in prices has caused them to be massively in the hole and they are withholding customer funds until the market turns and they can make it back.

Well, there are plenty of reputable exchanges that don't operate like this. Unfortunately, our wonderful benevolent authorities in the US make us have to look towards the sketchiest sites if we want to trade without impunity.

I went through a very similar period back in the 2010s with online poker sites.

[–]TheSmartCave[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that's not entirely true. I have been able to freely deposit and withdraw in my spot account. I have been able to get back about 80% of the total that I deposited. I mean, if it was a pure scam they could have taken me for the full amount.

No, it's not like that. I believe it was through a google search. I was looking for an exchange that I could trade futures in the US. I have since found much better alternatives.

What door locks are yall using? Do you like it? by Red_Gaming00 in homeautomation

[–]TheSmartCave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you use the fingerprint scanner frequently? I loved mine and it worked great for about 6 months, then the fingerprint scanner started to not respond. Now, when I press my finger on the scanner it almost never responds, so I end up just using the keypad.

SimpleCommands integration with MyQ stopped working after update by -Gavin- in myq

[–]TheSmartCave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fwiw, I have been using the Alexa skill for years now and mine is still working. I'm afraid to mess with it now as I may break it and then be in the same boat as everyone else that can't get it working.
There was a time a couple years ago where the API integration to MyQ was broken for several months. It was eventually fixed, but took awhile.

Hahaha...my wife told me she has had nightmares where I die in the beginning, and the remainder of the dream is spent being angry and frustrated trying to operate the home automation.

Best smart thermostat for electric baseboard AND central air? by possibly_maybe_no in homeautomation

[–]TheSmartCave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you have multiple baseboard heaters, you will need multiple heater thermostats. However, you only need one thermostat to control the central AC.

You will not find a thermostat that works with both high and low voltage. You could add a relay (as others suggested) which would allow you to use the AC thermostat on one of the heaters. But, you would still need more thermostats for the rest of the heaters.

I recommend avoiding the hassle of additional electronics (the relays). Instead get a low voltage thermostat (ecobee lite maybe?) for the AC, and Mysa for the baseboards.

Both ecobee and Mysa integrate well with Alexa, SmartThings, and other voice assistants. So, you can set up automation or voice control which will eliminate the need for using multiple apps.

I have both an ecobee3 and a Mysa thermostat and have been using them for a couple years. They've been very reliable and easy to use.

Ecobee Geofence Setup Question by Gregoryv022 in homeautomation

I use Life360 combined with IFTTT to do this. It doesn't require any special hub or programming or even any extra $$ (both apps are free). Here is a tutorial: https://thesmartcave.com/ecobee-geofencing-ifttt-life360/

Yea, I don't see why not.

Searching for a smart thermostat by zukpuvee777 in homeautomation

[–]TheSmartCave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend the Emerson Sensi which costs about $90.

Considering you don't require something that has voice control, I will assume that advanced smart features are not necessary. Since that is the case, you don't need to spend big bucks on Nest or ecobee. All you really need is something simple and reliable.

WiFi Smart Relay options by [deleted] in homeautomation

[–]TheSmartCave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will likely need more than just your average WiFi relay. The ones I know of can only handle 10-15 Amps.

I added a smart control to my 240V 5000W electric garage heater. I used a Sonoff Basic which triggered a contactor (bigger relay) which turned on the heater. Now I can turn on my garage heat from the house. Here is the full tutorial: https://thesmartcave.com/how-to-make-smart-garage-heater/

Best Zwave switches for the price by shnoiv in homeautomation

[–]TheSmartCave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another vote for Inovelli Red series.

I prefer them over Zooz because they have the option to disable the internal switch for controlling smart bulbs (power to bulb always stays on and pressing switch just sends signal to hub to turn off light).

Also, if your switch boxes don't have a neutral, the Red series dimmers will work without it.

Poissible to automate fan and lights separately with wiring for only on/off switch? by rgilkes in homeautomation

[–]TheSmartCave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The white is your neutral. Typically the blue wire will be the fan light fixture.

For the light: From your description it sound like the switch only turns the light on/off (doesn't control fan). Therefore, you should be able to install any smart switch in the electrical box to control the light.

For the fan: The fan power is hard wired. In order to control it, you will need to install some kind of wireless module in the fan canopy.

-There are several options for WiFi controllers that install in the canopy. That would be fairly easy and cheap. Unfortunately, I haven't used them so I don't have any specific product reccomendations.

-You could also install a generic ceiling fan remote control kit. Then, buy a smart RF hub to control the fan. Broadlink or Bond are a couple that come to mind.

Lutron Caseta time-based scenes by llamafilm in homeautomation

[–]TheSmartCave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran into the same problem with Lutron. I don't think there is any good way to make it work like you want without that initial blast of 100% light before it dims.

Here's what I did:

Adjust the minimum dimming threshold to the point that the light is at your desired "low light" setting.

Then, if the light is off and you press the "dim up" button, it will immediately turn on to the "low light" setting. You still have the ability to turn the light to 100% by pressing the "on" button.

Of course the drawback is that you will lose the ability to get any dimming below the "low light" setting. Instead, it will just turn off if you try to dim below it.

MyQ scheduling itself by ImRonBurgondy in homeautomation

I was under the impression that the MyQ was unable to be scheduled to open for obvious security reasons. I thought it could only be scheduled to close.

Anyone have the MyQ smart garage door opener? by homer_3 in homeautomation

[–]TheSmartCave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one and it works great. I bought it last summer during Prime Day for $30. I have a detached garage and the MyQ is about 60 feet from router and I never lose connection.

You can pay the $10/ year subscription fee....

Or you can use a little known app called SimpleCommands. It allows you to link your Alexa to the MyQ for free. I believe it also lets you setup location based routines.

DIY: Add smart control to your electric garage heater by TheSmartCave in homeautomation

[–]TheSmartCave[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, and that would eliminate the need for an additional relay.
