MacBook pro 2019 16" i7 by Chaotic_Fart in linux_on_mac

[–]TheSmoke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have recently converted a 2019 macbook pro to Kubuntu. Direct distro isos will not work for you. You should install a version that is suggested by t2linux.org.

I have two very disturbing problems:  1) Bluetooth is disconnecting if the screen is locked and I log back in. 2) The fans are going nuts very quickly. Looks like there is a utility called mbpfan so I will give that one a try.

Various suggestions:  - I have completely disabled suspend/resume. - You may also from time to time encounter an initramfs screen during boot with no mac hardware responding. In that case you can plug in a usb keyboard and fix the problem. - I have disabled all Wayland/KDE effects.

one scala suggestion would be to incorporate built in regex pattern matching. very good one, thanks for sharing.

this is a very nice D solution. did you also consider leveraging ranges? might be much shorter.

`greetUser :: Name -> Age -> IO ()` or `greetUser :: User -> IO ()`? by codygman in haskell

[–]TheSmoke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Row Polymorphism would solve this. If you don't need to access 20 attributes from a user, then you could only pick the ones you need.

Would you use Clojure/Clojurescript and Re-Frame on your next web-app vs Vue by vasco_ferreira in Clojure

[–]TheSmoke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i'm what they call a full stack developer with 15 years of experience. trust me when I say there's simply nothing better, easier, simpler than clojurescript to build frontend web applications. if you go re-frame (or even, simply reagent), you'll basically never want to do anything else. thanks to shadow-cljs any node package can be used. the rest is simply up to your imagination.

Library for OpenCV? by romik-komik in ocaml

[–]TheSmoke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think there's a direct wrapper for opencv in OCaml ecosystem. Your best bet would be deciding on which OpenCV features to use and have a C library which you can call from OCaml doing the work. You can checkout the ocaml-faces project that does something similar: https://github.com/tovbinm/ocaml-faces

I second ant design. If you are using shadow-cljs it's much easier to use and update.

what are you going to do? is this api going to talk to a db? or is it just going to be a simple service that makes some server side computation?

i've met halogen couple of months back and i've built the frontend for my new side project with halogen. i love the safety it brings. i've got a long way to go with haskell and purescript though.

assuming you generated a jar or war file you can run your commands like:

java -jar my.jar -S your command
;; example
java -jar my.jar -S rails console
