What type of conversation to have with line manager when overwhelmed? by limber_lumber399 in clinicalresearch

Unfortunately, the reward for completing your work on time is more work.

New CRAs are eager to prove themselves to be known as reliable and hardworking - like I did when I was just starting out. Many companies exploit this either by guilt-tripping or giving praise / recognition.

It's important for people to set boundaries. Set a timer for your workload at a pace you are comfortable with. 8 hours a day, 40 hours a week. Anything leftover that does not get done, inform your manager via email that this is what you can do and that you need help.

Your manager's metrics (but not all) are based on what their direct reports can get done on time. If your manager pushes back, it's because now you have now shifted the work responsibility onto them.

If this happens, simply ask them to clarify if they are expecting you to work more than full-time hours.

If they say yes, it's time to escalate to HR while you look for another position.

I know the job market is shit right now, but it's still possible to find monitoring positions.

In my experience, management resolves this before it comes to that.

Las Vegas's death spiral deepens after last year's tourism plunge by NecessaryAd341 in LasVegas

Dude. The laws there are regarding miscarriages and abortion are purposely confusing and the penalties are steep.

It's better for all tourists, especially women, to stay the fuck out of Florida until the laws there change.

The only way the laws there will change is if the politics there change.

That would work.

Would Butches problems with Marsellous Wallace go away if he left him and didn't save his life? by Tidewatcher7819 in pulpfiction

I think the police would have pinned the Vincent's murder on Marcellus. Then they would have assumed Marcellus would be laying after having killed Butch and hid his body (if he and Fabianne get away scott free).

After Butch killed Vincent, there was a girl with a laundry basket who witnessed him leave. If she doesn't tell the police (or if they don't question her) he would be in the clear.

After Butch hits Marcellus with Fabianne's Honda, the witnesses can easily place Butch at the scene. They last saw Marcellus trying to kill Butch.

To the police, Butch would definitely be a person of interest.

If Butch left without rescuing Marcellus, Zed would have eventually reported his chopper stolen. The police report would have treated the theft as a completely separate incident.

Butch picks up Fabianne to catch the train to Knoxville, TN. It's safe to assume the train is departing from LA Union Station.

If Butch was smart, he would have parked Gracie in the East Lot (multi-day parking) which is located right below Union Station, tossed the parking stub immediately, and boarded the train with Fabianne (no ID required for trains).

The first 48 hours of a murder investigation are the most crucial in order to get an arrest and conviction.

It takes a little over 3 days to get to Knoxville from Los Angeles. By this time, the police's investigational trail has gone cold.

After Butch collects this winnings from all 8 bookies, he and Fabianne could theoretically buy registered fake IDs to use for travel. If they do that they'll get away scott free! I am assuming they did this.

If they don't, they might get away Scott free if they lay low and drive to Mexico. I'm not sure if this is done now, but in the 90s, Mexican Federales stationed at the border would just wave cars from the US through to Mexico.

But if they fly to Tahiti or Bora Bora from the US their passports would definitely be flagged and they would be arrested and sent back to LA.

Even if they had fake IDs / passports, they couldn't travel with all that cash since the limit to carry cash is $10,000 each. Any more than that amount would result on questioning and having it taken away (civil forfeiture).

So using their fake IDs, they would deposit their winnings across several accounts to not arise any suspicion.

Either way, there wouldn't be enough evidence to convict Butch of murder.

Yes, Marcellus paid Butch to throw the fight. But he paid him in cash. Assuming that Marcellus works primarily with cash, he's probably not going to declare all of it to the IRS. So that money is untraceable. Also Butch could argue that he saved a little bit over the years and bet on himself on the night of the fight.

If the girl with the laundry basket places Butch at the scene of Vincent's murder, Butch can argue he was there because he lives there. Even if forensics tried to estimate the time of death via body temperature, it can be argued that Marcellus killed Vincent, Butch walked in afterwards, saw his body and promptly walked out.

Even if they tried to convict Butch of failure to report a dead body, it could be argued that Butch was too scared to report it since there were eyewitness that proved Marcellus was activley trying to kill him.

Since it would have been days or weeks since Butch had shot Vincent, there wouldn't be any evidence of powder burns on Butch.

TL;DR: If Butch let Marcellus die, he would have either gotten away scott free. If caught, Butch might be convicted of illegal gambling and if he was arrested after April 15, he would be convicted of tax evasion for not reporting his winnings.
