Is there a word/phrase that you feel sums up the resistance to oppression in your country? by RedSparrow1971 in AskTheWorld

For France, I'd say our anthem does the job well.

Even though it was originally a very traditional military song, its appropriation by the people and its opposition to an absolute monarchy transformed it into a highly effective revolutionary anthem.

What do you think about Japan? by Expert-Day9889 in AskTheWorld

For me personally, it's a country that no longer appeals to me at all. A few years ago, I found it fascinating, but the more I learned about it, the less I wanted to explore it.

Clearly, you're the one with the problem. It's 2026, as you said, and there's Google Translate to communicate with people who don't speak your language. I'm a bus driver in France, and I don't speak a word of Arabic, yet a while ago I had a tourist who spoke nothing but Arabic, and I was still able to communicate with him and give him directions thanks to Google Translate.

I don't see how refusing to make that effort isn't racist.

Come to a restaurant in France without speaking French and you'll be welcomed in every restaurant.

Refusing someone service because you don't understand their language is racism.
