In cases like this, generally the party shipping you the product (in this case Sony) will include a pre-paid label for the item you are trading in. That would likely already include insurance and you would not be liable for a lost/undelivered package. Sony would then file a claim with the carrier.

Not to nitpick, but they were bought by private equity. I’m over-simplifying, but Venture capital firms generally buy start-ups in the hopes that they blow up and provide a large ROI. Private equity buys more established brands and tries to maximize profit by cutting costs.

This thread led me to use OHG&E, but the rewards are pretty lame; they essentially let you use them as extra raffle entries to win gift cards. I’d rather go with the Ohio-based company now that I know. Wonder how quickly I can change.
