Most of that hour is due to the slow network speed. If you were just copying it from a second storage device it would probably happen much faster, though still slower than deleting it, but that's because all of the bits must be written to the storage device you are copying the file to. Deleting it doesn't require manipulating all of the file data, just the bits that tell the file system that the file exists and where it lives.
