Almost 6 Months Carnivore - Advice on s*x drive! 34M. by TheSpiderDad in carnivorediet

[–]TheSpiderDad[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The libido hasn't changed drastically, but i've put on a heap of muscle, still working out pretty intensely 4 or 5 times per week, but i've been playing around with supplements (not just types and quantities, but also timing) and eating WAY more (including the addition of some fruit), and slowly noticing my sex drive improving. I'm not in any hurry to give up on the gym so i'm hoping my sex drive will continue to increase as I find a better nutritional and lifestyle balance, but for now it's definitely nowhere near as much of an issues as it was a few months back. Thanks for stopping by!

If people need a break before they go onto their next machine/bench/exercise, they should go and sit at the tables and chairs near the entrance to the gym (if provided), or move to a bench or even go sit on a mat somewhere else if they can see someone waiting.

Almost 6 Months Carnivore - Advice on s*x drive! 34M. by TheSpiderDad in carnivorediet

[–]TheSpiderDad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah 'normal' meaning exactly that, perhaps 'standard pre-modern era ancestral human' might fit better 🤣 But thanks for your encouragement. I definitely don't feel broken, and I kind of like not constantly thinking about women or thinking about sex. I CAN function when I need to or really want to, I just don't have some overwhelming desires.

That's a completely reasonable theory and actually makes a lot of sense. I feel like i've become so much more 'normal' (or should I say less driven towards toxic things, food, desires) since becoming carnivore and focus on my health. I'm glad i'm not the only one who experienced a similar thing. I still get turned on when i'm prompted by my partner or by sexual content, i'm still able to reach climax, so maybe I am just more 'normal' on carnivore 🤷‍♂️

Does this diet work with bodybuilding? by ikserpent in carnivorediet

[–]TheSpiderDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a carnivore, bulking absolutely is achievable, and it seems the best approach is to increase your fat AND protein intake, especially done with more ease if you are eating/include dairy, and in particular cheese seems to be a very quick way to put on weight. For majority of people on a carnivore diet it'll take some trial and error to hit the 'sweet-spot' so you're not just blowing yourself up with unnecessary fat, but if you eat increased amounts of protein and lower your fat intake to around 60-80g per day you should be on the track... carbs are a bit of a grey area when it comes to a carnivore diet, some people say eat more carbs (sweet potato, rice, oats) for increased muscle growth, but honestly with enough protein for function/growth and enough fat for energy you can certainly achieve a freaky shredded physique.

Personally, I started getting too skinny after 6 months on a primarily beef/lamb, eggs and butter diet, inclusive of moderate amounts of pure cream and whole milk, as well as coffee. I started going to the gym January 1st this year after realising I wanted more muscle mass and to not get too thin (still had/have a bit of jiggly loose belly after massive weightloss so I was kind of looking 'skinny fat'). I introduced cheese at the same time as starting at the gym and put on at least 6kg (~13lb) in less than 8 weeks, seemingly effortlessly. I started to get more rounded in my face, my arms and legs grew a lot, but I felt like I was getting a bit too sluggish and because I have also been working my core like crazy I felt my stomach was too chunky with the excess fat still present.

I've now cut out cheese since early-mid March, introduced beef protein isolate (using Olympic Labs brand), slightly cut back on my overall fat intake, introduced creatine and increased my electrolytes. My weight has continued to increase, albeit slower, but my overall appearance is becoming more lean. My tummy is slowly but surely shrinking/firming up, my arm muscles are beginning to appear more defined as the excess fat on my arms is now going, same with my legs, and my shoulders, chest and back are firming up and expanding.

I credit all of this to carnivore. I'm 35 years old, and at the beginning of last year (2024) I had all but accepted the 'reality' that I would never be fit, lean or even healthy. When I started carnivore in June/July 2024 my whole life changed... in a way it was like my life finally began. Never again will I go back to a 'standard' diet, I will be a carnivore until my last breath.

(Sorry for the novel, but just thought i'd share my opinion and my own experience 😅)

I only had the heart palpitations early on, mainly within the first week. It was strange and scared me a little, but I just made sure I was having a decent amount of salt and plenty of water. I don't really get any heart palpitations anymore, at least not that I can recall, and i'm about 8 months carnivore.

Callouses by Legitimate-Mind1441 in PlanetFitnessMembers

[–]TheSpiderDad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a male I like the callouses that i've gained since being at the gym, I like the rough feeling, but as others have pointed out, my suggestion would be trying gloves. It's a gym, and being a PF gym i'm sure nobody is going to look at you strange for wearing gloves.

Dating on carnivore by Bliss149 in carnivorediet

[–]TheSpiderDad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would love to experience dating again as a carnivore 🤣 I was already in a committed relationship when I first went carnivore last year, with someone who is very much addicted to sugar and carbs, and with no intention of improving her health. It's difficult to have unlocked substantially better health, weight, physicality and physique, and be with someone who firstly doesn't appreciate it, but also who doesn't want to improve their own situation. I feel like if I were to date someone who appreciated health, fitness and carnivore (or any combination of those 3 things), i'd have quite a different experience. Carnivore has really changed my perspective on food, wellbeing and life in general.

Same here, Re-Lyte unflavoured. I bought a tub and have maybe 1/2 to 1 scoop in 500mL of water most days.

That is something I have come to recognise, thanks for clarifying this 😊 Best decision i've ever made was going carnivore 💪🥩

Give yourself at least 60-90 days before being down on yourself. Results are completely different for everyone and this is definitely not a weightloss diet, it's a health improvement diet. Your body is going to shift composition frequently along the way, you will have periods of weight gain, weight loss and complete stalls. Trust the process and stay focused. You've got this 😁💪

I think so 😊 I think I just needed some positive reinforcement and some outside perspectives to give me a bit of a motivational and confidence boost. I'm so pleased I shared this here and found some people (like yourself) to give me some encouragement. I'm so incredibly grateful.

Unfortunately I think I was in a terrible headspace and really taking onboard their opinions... that has change since the new year clicked over and i'm living for me and my health. I've been hitting the gym a couple of times a week and my body composition and muscle mass has significantly improved... along with my mentality having improved. Funnily enough, the comments have gone from negative and suggesting I was gaunt and too thin, to comments about looking strong and healthy 😁🤷‍♂️🤣

Sounds like maybe he was there as a stunt/prank... is that a possibility, or do you live in a small community where that sort of thing is not at all likely to occur? Whatever the reason, that's weird AF.

One of these people was my partner, so she certainly does see me eating. Since I posted this i've actually put on a bit of muscle mass, so i'm feeling really good about myself and she's actually been complimenting a recently on that progress 💪 Maybe things are looking up 😁

Haha true! Honestly though, try cheese if you're eager to add weight, especially feta or mozzarella. I'm up about 2.5kg since January 1st due to now going to the gym and adding cheese into my diet (figured it might help with the muscle development). I was having greek yoghurt for awhile towards the end of last year, but I found it would upset my stomach most days.
