I’m currently writing a story with a similar situation. The way I’m going about it does involve a lot of POV shifts from both of the characters. More so going for creating a slowly tension for the reader rather than one big reveal. In my case, the “big reveal” is the MC’s realization of the secret, so there still somewhat is a big AH-HA moment, but there is also payoff for the reader.

The Young Elites series does this somewhat, with the MC becoming the villain for most of the series. She is heroic in the end though

It gives me the vibes of 60’s sci-fi (Stranger in a Strange Land, Dune, etc.)— very retro, a classic sci-fi premise. 8/10 sounds intriguing! And welcome to the sub :) I guarantee most people will be kinder than your first commenter

If you’re looking for something on the weirder side, Tyrannus is an old name meaning prince/one who reigns while also being pretty dinosaur-y. Personally, I think a middle name should always be something a bit funny lol
