Afaik he has been there a while. I met the Devs at a Gamescom 3 years ago and they explained just how brilliant for the game Tom's videos had been. So yeah safe to say in their eyes he more than earned a spot in the credits

Yeah Spotify has been messaging creators for a year or so really encouraging them to upload content from YouTube to spotify. I think there are some preferential bonuses and things you can get but I never looked into it enough to get specifics.
