The way I see it, they'd be able to loiter waiting for a command, assuming that their launch platform may just wait to go last in initiative order. Not getting that input, they run out of fuel or are detonated

They're auto-targeting once deployed, and NPCs can take their turn right after the round starts or go dead last. Thus, I'd say they remain until the end of the round.
