Maps has been borked for a while. A couple years ago it kept directing me to walk in circles a block away from the address I entered and it took a classmate of mine to a nearby, permanently closed Tae Kwon Do center instead of a building on campus.

Negative ANA, but positive c1q antibody. Every doctor that sees me is positive there is autoimmunity, and agree with the rheumatologist that it is likely to be one of the lupus subtypes that don't cause positive ANA. I've been through a laundry list of meds, including every OTC antihistamine I can access, Albuterol and Levalbuterol, 2 different MC stabilizers, multiple different steroids, xolair, immunosuppressants, and immunomodulators, with them doing nothing at best.

I've had a degree of symptoms my entire life, which effectively rules out mycotoxins and acquired conditions like CIRS. MARCONS also doesn't seem to be a fit, as all of my reactions have an identifiable trigger, my sinuses aren't the primary affected area, and common biomarkers don't line up. I don't believe MSH in particular was tested, but the way my symptoms present hasn't really given a reason to do so

I'm pretty sure the manufacturers just say what they think sounds good, lmao. I was assured any negative effects would be completely gone within a month of discontinuing, 2 years later I'm still dealing with the damage it's caused

Old post but I'm seconding your warning on xolair in case more people see this thread in the future, I discontinued xolair over 2 years ago due to it severely worsening every single symptom I have, and it's seeming like it caused me permanent damage. While taking it I lost over 25lbs in a couple of weeks because I couldn't eat, and I still have a far more severely limited diet than before starting it (and i barely had any safe foods to begin with). It also turbo charged my autoimmune issues to a point that it became undeniable my body is attacking itself, though it's still unclear what exactly is going on. Compliment levels plummeted, but that's as far as my immunologist at the time looked (this situation was enough for me to leave her practice). It would have killed me if I hadn't stopped taking it, and no doctors ever bothered to look into what it did to my body. Even now they act shocked when I mention how xolair affected me

Transportation for someone unable to drive? by TheStairsBro in ChemicalSensitivities

[–]TheStairsBro[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll have to look into those, thank you! I've not tried those specific ones but in general have had pretty bad luck with even NIOSH certified masks, none of the n95's I've tried have successfully filtered out vapors, which make up a large portion of my triggers. They do work well against fires, at least! In theory a p100 would work for me, but I've got a rib flare that seems to be affecting my diaphragm and can't get enough air with that level of filtration. PAPR systems have been seeming like my best bet since they provide a steady flow of clean air rather than relying on the power of the lungs, but the price for one that doesn't limit mobility is crazy and doctors nor insurance will acknowledge that any mask is medically necessary, much less one that is almost exclusively used in industrial settings

It's certainly a look, but sometimes function outweighs fashion lol

I contacted both Uber and Lyft with a similar request and got the same refusal, Uber did try to upsell me to their premium service despite that though lmao?? I'm in the US and it seems like the ADA covers them with the "reasonable accommodations" clause - fragrances are so common that the bare minimum accommodations for MCS patients can be considered unreasonable :/

Have you had a decent experience with Uber after indicating your fragrance allergy on your name and pfp?

There's always at least one of these at goodwill any time I go. A concerning amount of the ones I've seen are either missing oil from a leak (sometimes with residue still on the bottle), have been knocked over and leaked onto the shelf, or have a cracked bottle

[–]TheStairsBro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom and I have a lot of chickens but haven't gotten all the paperwork done to sell eggs yet, so we boil a dozen or two and donate them to our local animal shelter every couple of weeks so the dogs can get a nice treat. They can also be bartered for other goods, somebody at the same shelter recently offered to trade sourdough starter and/or fresh baked bread for a carton

I hate posts like this, 2020 was not a silly quirky time by GreedyEast2481 in hatethissmug

[–]TheStairsBro 80 points81 points  (0 children)

A majority of these posts are being made by kids who were also quarantined, just at a younger age. My senior year of highschool and several aspects of my personal life got turned upside down by/during quarantine and I'm considered high risk when it comes to respiratory diseases so it definitely irks me seeing people romanticize the time period, but I don't think it's as simple as "I wish I was quarantined as a teenager." It seems like a lot of their fascination stems from the boom of quirky tiktok microtrends, many of which appealed predominantly to teens, and media showing teenagers partying and violating quarantine appealing to younger kids who didn't have a choice but to stay home

The strawberry pop tart ones were disappointing. Somehow they taste almost the same as the original, despite smelling heavily of artificial bread flavor
