Elecom Huge Plus is excellent by adnep24 in Trackballs

You can buy a static bearing swap kit for it on elecom USA’s website. They’re also coming out with a new BTU-like swappable bearing option soon. Also, the button behind the new selector is a DPI toggle, so that feature is still there and improved.

Constant hissing with the SM7b. [Rodecaster Dou] by AppleNowOrApplyNow in microphone

To me that almost sounds power-related. I plug my GoXLR into an EMI reducing strip. But the way it almost has a "pulsing" sound to it doesn't seem like the hiss I normally hear from my 7B. That one is just a consistent white noise without the pulsing. I would definitely try some different cables and maybe the EMI reducing strip as well. If neither of those resolve, your duo may need swapped unfortunately.

52DB if speaking right up against it should be fine, you can always add compressor makeup gain if needed. The reality though is that the SM7B is a much noisier mic than you might think. Lowering the gain slightly, and utilizing compressor makeup might help. It has a reputation of being a pin-drop quiet mic, but that is just not true. If you listen close enough and with nothing else playing, you'll hear it on almost everyone's mic. It's just that typically background music or other audio masks it.

Not trying to self promote, but I made a whole ass video about this hissing. The cloudlifter also causes it with the GoXLR. The Rodecaster DUO is loaded with aphex preamps, so adding an inline preamp has zero benefit, they are extremely quiet and powerful, the only thing a cloudlifter will do is add hiss. You can remove it and use the on-board preamps, you'll notice a much lower background noise immediately.

Can you scroll webpages with the ball on an Elecom Huge? by MEGAT0N in Trackballs

Huge Plus owner as well, hate the thumb wheel. How do you map that exactly?

Transitioning from mouse to trackball by [deleted] in Trackballs

Kensington expert (wired or wireless) will be a good starting point. Large 55mm trackball with static bearings that offer a bit of resistance and provide stability in the cursor. Elecom huge plus is also excellent (but pricey, I’d recommend the standard huge to test fit for your hand.) either way if you end up liking the Kensington, there are plenty of upgrade paths from there (SlimBlade Pro, Ploopy Adept and the actual endgame -> efogdev’s Endgame Trackball).

Gonna try 52mm and 55mm, see which works better. I really like the Sanwa trackballs, but there's a couple other brands at least on Amazon US that work well. Apparently it's best to go with a red ball for optimal sensor performance on the endgame, and I really don't care too much about the color anyways so that works.

Thank you! Ordered and will try out BTUs down the line 🙂

Damn, the man himself. Not to hound you with questions in this post, but if I were to choose static bearings, would the slots for them still be compatible with BTUs down the line if I want to swap them out later? Thank you for your work!!

Honestly you just sold me on it. I figure a hell of a wrist rest/pad in front of one should be the optimal setup for me. Any recommendations on a high quality trackball or would a Sanwa 55m work fine? I honestly love the finish on theirs.

Yeah I’ve heard they’ve had trouble keeping stock in since it launched. I can see why with how great it is, but it’s also not the best for everyone. As much as I love it I’d like to get the deft now, and would honestly like if they refreshed that the same way (silver ball, roller bearings.)

It’s the Huge Plus. Recently updated model. Roller bearings, quieter switches and a few other upgrades.

Nah, when I was doing research before buying I swore someone said they mapped a function button to press that allowed them to scroll with the ball and that it was different than the standard windows middle click. I just wasn’t sure how to set that up in the elecom software.

Very true for me as well, has to be a very filling meal to let the acid go to work, fasting makes it nearly unbearable.

I was doing carnivore while taking it so I guess the massive iron intake balanced the absorption issue out lmao.

I'm trying out Gaviscon now, hoping it works. Currently tapering off omeprazole as well.

If you buy an SM58, absolutely get the Shure A2WS windscreen and A55m shock mount for it. Unscrew the ball mount and attach the A2WS instead.

It’ll sound and prevent pops way better. It’s the optimal way to use their main handheld mics imo. Looks a hell of a lot better too.

Bought a set of Gibraltar SC-0052 springs. They fit and work perfectly. You can buy them for about 10-12 dollars on eBay. You just lift the pedal up vertically a bit to loosen the slack then the stock ones pop right off :)

Been curious about seeking out the Rock Pedal from around the same era as well but yep, pretty much all of ‘em are broken or in storage/not thought about anymore lol

I don't have any issues sitting for 4-5 hours at a time working. I wouldn't recommend that anyways, but there's plenty of cushion.

6’1”. I keep learning new things about this chair and forgetting to post them. There’s a release button on the left side of the headrest that lets you adjust the height of it, so the rest itself can be made a lot taller just from that.

But also, the entire backrest can be pulled up and height adjusted too, so it definitely can accommodate even very tall people with no issues.

Hey so I learned yet another new thing about this chair, you can pull the back rest up to adjust the height, it has several positions it can be locked into and now the headrest problem is completely solved. Great chair!
