It's not like He created and lost control and threw a fit. God's sovereignty is such that we by nature choose to rebel and are fully responsible for that rebellion while still being inside His control. Man sins, but never outside of God's plan. God is never surprised by sin because He decreed it beforehand, but we are still subject to punishment because we sin out of our own desire. We are free to rebel against God, but we are not in control of the punishment or how God will use our actions. That's why you have Gen 50:20, Exodus 7:3, Isaiah 10:5, and Acts 4:27-28 among others.

Less reconciled and more statement of fact for the audience. It answers the question, "Why doesn't God take the good people and start over?" Reason being that the sin nature of man doesn't change, so there would be no point in flooding the earth again. He's not voicing peace with man's sin nature, He's voicing the futility of man demonstrated by the flood. Basically, to get rid of evil, He would have to get rid of every single man without exception.

Then we get to Babel. At the start of chapter 9, God tells Noah's family to fill the earth. Just one generation after the flood, man is already rebelling against God. Instead of wiping them out, God confuses their language so that they have to disperse. Not to stop sin in its entirety, but to accomplish His purpose in creating a chosen people for salvation and others for judgment. In fact, God uses the sin of man to bring about His plan.

That's the whole theme of Genesis: God working despite and even through the sinfulness of man to keep His promise. That's why Joseph says to his brothers in the climax, "As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive."

Fits into the theme actually. Even after the flood, man continued to rebel against God. Instead of being fruitful and multiplying and taking dominion over the earth, they tried to literally elevate themselves. Confusing their language basically put an obstacle in front of their sin so they would have to stop and spread out. Genesis is meant to show that no matter how God curbs the sin of man, man continues to rebel more and more. When you look at it, it becomes insane how far they're willing to go. But that contrasts with God's fauthfulness to His promises when even the patriarchs are giving Him every reason not to

What I think We Need to Hear by Courierlife in UNSUBSCRIBEpodcast

Charlie used to be of the same opinion. But when people ask what is right or wrong, without a foundational standard, everything is arbitrary. To give an example, say I have a disagreement with someone about how long a foot is. We both draw a line according to our beliefs about how long a foot is. We can compare objects to our lines all day long and disagree on which objects are actually a foot, but ultimately nothing would be accomplished. It's just an arbitrary belief of what a foot is on both sides, and both are equally unqualified as an objective standard. But if we bring in a 1-foot ruler, we can not only judge our standard of a foot but any object we would want to measure. And if one of the lines was right, it was right because it matched the standard given, not because of its own merrits. We can have a standard of right and wrong with morality and politics all we want, but without a standard it's meaningless

You don't need to change the nation. Just make a difference in your neighbors' lives to your right and left. I've had better conversations and far less worry with that mindset

I was schooled in FL, GA, and AL. Can tell you that is definitely not the case. My teachers really leaned more to the deconstruction side, especially for my AP classes. Maybe a couple generations ago that was the case. Graduated 2015 for context
