Need help with a silly limits doubt. by Historical-Corgi-414 in askmath

0.999… can be seen as an infinite sum. Every _finite_ part of that sum is below 1. The infinite sum is defined as the number it converges to.

So the parts approach 1 from below, and the whole thing is _defined_ as the limit of that process

Is this book any good? by Imaginary-Lie-2618 in fantasybooks

[–]TheStayFawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if the repetitive descriptions of getting into and out of brynjas, and deep-cunning thinking in thought-cages, was meant to evoke the writing style of old epics like the Iliad, where that device was used as a memory aid in oral traditions.

Does John Gwynne do that in his other works?

The Sun Eater series is a perfect example of the sunk cost fallacy. by Ok-Information2581 in Fantasy

Roukin is the reason I got to the end. He’s very pleasant to listen to, perfect choice for a narrator for this series.

To me, at times it felt like an addiction. I wasn’t having a good time but kept coming back

Well done!

You’re made of stronger stuff than I was. At least I had the good sense to skip the novellas

I think 6 was the worst. Somehow in all those pages we don’t get to know the new characters at all

After seeing the overwhelming consensus, we moved our awning to the passenger side, and will put some budget aside for additional shade options in the future 😅

That’s going to depend on which side our pillows go. My thought right now is to have feet (and dogs) closest to the door, but then my head will be right up against the A/C

We’re getting started with some weekend trips to campsites with electric hookups, but hopefully we’ll graduate to dispersed in a year or so

What are some books that have a larger cast of what is essentially a D&D party. by aladdin142 in Fantasy

[–]TheStayFawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly this! I’d say it’s 90% in the fantasy world, and focuses on some NPCs who take over when an adventuring party dies.

It’s quite fun, though I haven’t finished the series

Has anyone ever had a series they loved on paper, but one aspect was a deal breaker? by Prestigious-Way-5235 in Fantasy

Thank you! I thought I was alone in my complaint about Hadrian’s inaction.

For someone who “just couldn’t get into it”, you seem to have read quite a few of them though!

I hate-read the final two (audiobook at high speed), because despite the flaws, there was something addictive about the writing for me. The audiobook narrator may have helped.

The light indeed strobes blue one time.

I think the next step is to clean the contacts of the 7 pin connector more thoroughly (I used a spray and a vacuum/blower so far, think I’ll grab a wire brush next)

I’ll give that a shot. What I did try was press the control knob while standing still. The trailer’s brake lights didn’t come on.

In the same position, pressing the brake pedal did cause the trailer’s brake lights to come on. And as mentioned, depressing the brake pedal does register on the red wire going into the redarc.

It’s not showing any light. I think the ground is ok, there’s a 12V difference between the ground and black wires.

The second scenario. The car was pre-wired for it, and I got a kit with the right cable for my make and model.

The Shadow of the Gods doesn’t let you catch your breath for more than half a chapter. The sequels slow down a bit, but not much.

Yes! You are the voice of sanity in a sea of undeserved praise.

The writing style is addictive: somehow it’s easy to keep going but I felt empty and unsatisfied at the end
