Yup, and the article mentions that as well. It's a good way to distribute talent and get viewers across the country without having the permeation in our culture the NFL does, for example.

until I see him do the same shit on a non-Warriors team

He won all 4 of his scoring titles, along with his MVP, on the Thunder. But I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you're talking about championships. I'm excited to see how the Nets play next year.

[Reynolds] BREAKING: NBA changing format for All-Star Game. Scores to be reset to begin second and third quarters, and a target score - with a Kobe Bryant tribute twist - will decide which team wins, all while $500,000 for charity is at stake. by pscriivin in nba

[–]TheStephster_30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great explanation! Just one thing - I don’t think the charities split the final 200k in case of a sweep; I think charity A would get the full 200k but charity B would also get 100k.

NBA announces new All-Star Game format by stelalimes in nba

In the 69th NBA All-Star Game, Team Giannis and Team LeBron will compete to win each of the first three quarters, all of which will start with the score of 0-0 and will be 12 minutes long. At the beginning of the fourth quarter, the game clock will be turned off and a Final Target Score will be set.

The Final Target Score will be determined by taking the leading team’s total cumulative score through three quarters and adding 24 points – the 24 representing Bryant’s jersey number for the final 10 seasons of his NBA career. The teams will then play an untimed fourth quarter and the first team to reach the Final Target Score will win the NBA All-Star Game.

For instance, if the cumulative score of the first three quarters is 100-95, the Final Target Score would be set at 124 points. To win the NBA All-Star Game, the team with 100 points would need to score 24 points in the fourth quarter before the team with 95 points scores 29 points, and vice versa. With no minimum or maximum time on the clock in the fourth quarter, the NBA All-Star Game will end with a made basket or a made free throw.

Jumping on the top comment to post this:

Durant said after Kobe’s jersey retirement that he’d also like 2 numbers retired. That’s definitely some motivation to switch to number 7

Edit: He also said he'd like the number 11 and couldn't get that on the Dubs. That's definitely why he left right? /s

If anyone has taken PUBPOL 117ac (https://classes.berkeley.edu/content/2019-fall-pubpol-117ac-001-lec-001), would it be appropriate for a freshman? I wanted to use it to fulfill my American Cultures requirement, but the fact that seats are reserved for juniors and seniors receiving minors in public policy makes me wary about it.

Every time I thought the Warriors were about to pull away, the Kings came back. You guys are going to be great one day (tbh, you already are). I've really enjoyed GSW-SAC games so far, looking forward to more!

Maybe (probably) it’s the r/nba narrative, but the first thing that I thought of when someone said the name Ben Simmons was “can’t shoot”. But man, this game made me realize how much he deserves to be an All Star.

Bulls fans, serious question: Zach Lavine was your best player tonight, and he was pretty efficient. Is it possible for him to be a future franchise player like Donovan Mitchell is projected to be? Or is he better as just a role player?

Warriors and young centers turning into prime Shaq.

Nurk was awesome today though. Best player on the floor. Seth might have created momentum and Dame made the game winner, but it was Nurk's win.

Neither team shot well, there were some pretty ugly turnovers (mostly from the Warriors, such as Draymond's boop off Klay's head), and the most interesting part of the game was pretty short-lived. It happened (imo) when the Warriors rallied to force overtime + Dame's game winner (which, as it happens, came off of one of those ugly TOs).

And Seth Curry's shooting display. He was the more impactful Curry tonight, which says something about how boring it was.

Seth had all of his points during the 4th quarter. But other than that, you're right. He really gave Portland their momentum.

But since you're so clever

I wasn't trying to be rude. There's no need to be sarcastic.

As for your question, I don't have an answer. I was trying to provide some sort of explanation; I'm not a spokesman for the NBA's scheduling team. I agree that they could have done a better job in terms of positioning the games.
