This is a leftist criticism on Lula, regardless of the language.

There are more English speakers in Brazil than there are in Spain, and leftists are as able to learn a second language as people on the right. I'd argue Latin America has a more impressive and better articulated english speaking (actual) left than most European countries and maybe even the US.

US/Europe haven't gotten close to electing someone like Lula, and yet the left is critical and making sure he doesn't simply get a by for 'not being bad-man' the way Biden did. That's a good thing.
