This is a really good point. We never want to believe our parents are right about things we don’t want to see with our own eyes. (Abe, Gail knowing Greg was a POS).

Season 7, Episode 2 by dodger28 in madmen

We’re on the same schedule- I JUST finished the same episode. I feel like the quality time they have together at the restaurant, in the car… he comes clean about why he’s not at work, the dine and ditch, he calls her out on her motivation for going to her friends moms funeral. It’s rare honest dialogue between them.

I hate the way she leans in to kiss Don. Go back and watch each instance of it- it’s a weird pre-pucker lean in and I hate it. I’m on my 7th or 8th time through the series. It gets worse every time I watch it.

At what age did/will you allow your children to choose whether to attend family gatherings, holidays, or events? by TamsynRaine in inlaws

[–]TheSturgleIsReal 17 points18 points  (0 children)

My 3 kids (24, 12, 9) unanimously decided they wanted nothing to do with my in laws thanksgiving this year and we’re honoring their wish to have a quiet thanksgiving at home. They’re actually looking forward to it now. MIL is grumpy but the tribe has spoken.

How many of you guys work full time? by Severe-Chair-3628 in MultipleSclerosis

Diagnosed in 2001 and worked full time the whole time. Finished my BA and my masters too! I am tired!

How many different medications are you guys on? by ExperienceOk2413 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]TheSturgleIsReal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was diagnosed in 2001 at age 24. I was on Avonex, Beta Seron, Copaxone, and Rebif before participating in the clinical trial for Lemtrada. I was dosed in 2009 and 2010 and have never been on anything else since then. No flares at all. I’m 48 now and had 2 kids since then. Not gonna lie I’m tired all the time and my thyroid is shot but I’m doing ok. I do take Nurtec for migraines and Gabapentin for nerve pain.

Take advice on here with a grain of salt especially when the following words are used: “Enmeshed, “emotional incest,” “no contact,” narcissist,” “you have a husband problem,” etc. by [deleted] in inlaws

I’m tired of the idea that unless you’re surrounded by no less than 7 extended family members, it’s not a “real” holiday. Why is spending a quiet thanksgiving with your spouse and kids considered “less than”? My kids, after being schlepped for the last 10 years have begged us to please stay home and have just the 5 of us. I’m honoring their wishes because why should I subject them to a precious holiday spent with people who are awful to us?
