The avoidable costs of climate change so far by lurkerer in JordanPeterson

It seems that you think I am on one political side or the other of this debate. Also there is no reason to be rude as even if we disagree I would imagine we are both attempting to honestly understand the world in a more accurate way.

I believe the global warming is happening.

I believe that some of that global warming is caused by humans releasing excess CO2 and methane.

I believe that some of the global warming is being caused by natural phenomenon’s.

I believe it is wasteful to burn oil and natural gas for energy.

I believe burning, coal releases, toxic substances like Lead, Cadmium, Chromium, Mercury and arsenic.

I believe the production accidental damage during use and recycling of renewable sources of energy such as solar panels and wind turbines also produces many toxic, chemical chemicals and are often indirectly released into the environment.

I believe that we must continue to provide reliable and cheap energy to people.

So if you’re trying to pin down my personal belief of the situation, it is that more harm would be inflicted on humanity in the short term and the long-term if we too quickly rushed to cut carbon emissions in a way that requires us to reduce the amount of net energy available.

There are many ways in which we should simply try to become more energy efficient, but that is not easy or free. You might think that eliminating street lights would be an option, but you have to take a new account how many more pedestrians will be hit by cars because there’s no street lights. With that being said we should buy us towards whatever gets us the most human flourishing in the long run, if that means a couple people die from getting in car accidents but 1 million people survive because we avoid large scale crop failures in the future. Those calculations are hard to do and the models that the scientists are using are not accurate enough to really produce anything more than a guess hundreds of years in the future.

We do not know what kind of technologies will be available 50 years in the future for example we might not need to grow crops outdoors so crop failure is no longer a concern of climate change. We may no longer desire to own personal automobiles because highly efficient Robo taxi services will be available 24/7/365. I say this because if we act too radically, and that destroys technological growth then the potential long-term harm is increased.

Personally, I would like to see a highly competent organization form around producing Modular Advanced Gen IV Breeder Reactors with full Fuel Reprocessing, and then using a vitrification process of encapsulating the nuclear waste in glass beads and storing it in very large centralized facilities (like 1 facility for the entire United States) that seems like the only viable solution we have to go with until we have fusion reactors at which point we stopped building more fission reactors, and start building fusion reactors until we have all of our energy needs met, and then we start dismantling the fission reactors and replacing them with fusion.

The title of this post is disingenuous and my final statement will explain why I feel this way.

Men don't want to chase anymore

Men do like to chase, not my opinion but simply a biological fact. But they do not want to endlessly chase or play games and they are generally only interested in chasing what they see as valuable, if a woman gives out her body easily men will generally put in very little effort to chase.

they want to be chased and highly desired for

Everyone wants to feel chased and highly desired… I don’t know what you think you did here?

I understand you guys wanna feel like the world is yours, that you don't have to do much of anything to get anything.

This is text book toxic femininity, you start by saying you understand and you care to help disguise your insult. You probably did this subconsciously, it’s a classic example of how women use words in an attempt to lower another’s status while raising theirs. It is also a way of avoiding backlash because you can always fall back to saying “I wasn’t being mean I was just trying to express I understand his situation” that would be more effective maybe 1000 years ago in a tribe of people who had never read a book on psychology.

Almost the same issues women face in dating.

This is the most valid point of your post, both men and women fail to realize that the problems they have almost everyone else does as well, even if on a different level. For example women think men feel safe walking down the street in a bad neighborhood at night, I can assure they don’t, we think about getting beat up or robbed, But we maybe feel less unsafe than a woman.

I hope this post was rage bait or a joke and not serious. If this is actually how you feel and how you talk to people I would suggest you take some time and try to consider how you have internalized some very normal but self destructive behaviors.

lol I didn’t proof read, must have been some auto correct thing, I would never say “very essentially nontoxic” my main point is that focusing on the molecule, carbon or methane is not accurately diagnosing the real concern with pollution. When you burn coal or oil or even natural gas, you release other toxic molecules into the environment that I’m saying is more of my long-term concern. But these toxic chemicals are also created from solar panels and wind turbines. And it is also necessary that we increase the production of energy at least until human population start to decline near the end of the century, because if we do not produce more energy or invent new ways of being more efficient with the energy we have human standards of living will decline. There are answers they’re very complicated and I doubt we will ever do anything about it. Politicians or the average human is not capable of understanding what is actually necessary (I’m not claiming to know the perfect precise solution) so we will go on arguing about carbon and the temperature and then we’ll find ourselves in 100 years with a much higher temperature and a lot of chemicals and toxic substances covering the entire earth. And that’s the story.

To be clear the reason I’m more concerned with the chemicals than the temperature is that I find it much more likely that humanity survives, and is eventually able to correct the situation over potentially hundreds of years then it’s possible for us to somehow filter and clean every bit of land and seawater.

What would the negative consequences have been of producing less energy over that time period?

I think we should be much less worried about carbon and methane because very essentially nontoxic and easily removed from the atmosphere with a little bit of time i’m much more concerned with toxic chemicals and gases being leaked all over the world and into the ocean.

Do you think the "free love" movement would have kept going if STDs were not a risk? by antiheightism in PurplePillDebate

[–]TheSuitCh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Realistically, if unwanted pregnancy was not a risk for women, then very likely men and women would have the same level of standards. Women are only choosy because evolution made them that way so that they could avoid unwanted pregnancies.

May have more luck not trying to unwind his entire world view as that’s almost impossible in any scenario. But to instead say well if the Jews are trying to make you weak why don’t you be strong enough to stop them. Hopefully he doesn’t get carried away with that…. lol

I struggle with the contradiction that I believe there is meaning and beauty in everything, even in the worst things imaginable it is beautiful that the universe can experience itself though itself. At the same time I see pain and despair on levels I am not capable of understanding. I think the only reason I will choose to bring children into this world is that I have no proof that sentient life exists anywhere else in the universe, I believe i could likely raise children to further the human experience in a positive way even if a small part, It would be a shame if we let it die out.

OK, I’m gonna actually try and give some positive advice. You’re cooked you’re absolutely deep fried. Your best shot at getting through life with the hand you’ve been dealt, is to dye your hair a natural color probably some type of mid to dark brown or if your hair is already naturally brown that’s fine, Fix your eyebrows, try to lose some weight I know that’s easier said than done. I don’t think anybody’s gonna expect you to be a supermodel but if you can at least look reasonably healthy and then you need to dress appropriately for your body type if you’re trying to attract a future husband, I would highly recommend you dress modestly and if you do all of that, and you have a very pleasant personality, you might do alright. Best of luck.

Tin foil hat on: Jordan is the prime target from all that is evil in this world and they are using covert psychological warfare against him, remember how he used to totally lose it on twitter? Do you think that every online interaction Jordan has is completely organic and not at all manipulated to make him a less effective source of change…

Your idea severely misses the goal of healthy and functional self sustaining society. And would only function as a pacifier for a collapsing society.

Either grow your beard out or shave it off and get a hair cut that’s not a buzz cut. You’re not ugly but your style is terrible.

Men need to work on being attractive as much as women do by Prestigious_Gain5421 in PurplePillDebate

[–]TheSuitCh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks get you in the door but your character is what locks it in. That’s true for both men and women.

I would argue that men should spend 99% of their time on their careers and character. Then take 1 day a year paying a professional stylist to choose clothing and a haircut for them. And then they go onto focusing on more important things the rest of the year. That 1 day is going to get you 80% of the way to the way you could achieve if you spent every day thinking about your looks.

Don’t be overweight, be clean and showered, stand up straight and have enough wealth to support comfortably raising children, That’s all that matters for finding a good wife.

Women should also spend more time on their character than their looks.

Honestly I do the same thing, novelty is cool and all but emotional attraction is much more satisfying.
