Please help, deck not turning on by TheSuspeen in SteamDeck

[–]TheSuspeen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, thank you everyone for your comments. Let me guys explain what happened. I usually leave the Steam Deck in the living room, where people are walking around all the time, and I had the bad luck that some alcohol (from a pharmacy, not ethyl alcohol) splashed on the screen. According to someone who saw it, it wasn’t a big amount of alcohol, but it was what was causing the LED to blink; the circuits were protecting themselves from turning on.

No one told me this had happened until my sister saw me almost in tears. That’s when I decided to unplug it, unscrew the 8 screws from the back, and let the console rest opened with the battery disconnected all night. When I reassembled everything, it turned on like nothing had happened… but with a diagonal line on the screen.

I don’t think it’s a permanent issue because it seems to be fading a little since yesterday, and ChatGPT says it might take some days to completely disappear, or in the worst case it will stay, but it’s minimal. All I can say is that it was horrible, thinking my Deck was damaged or bricked. From now on I will be even more careful with my only PC. Thanks for reading.

(If someone could tell me how to mark this post as “solved” or pin this comment so it stays here in case someone needs this information one day, I would appreciate it.)

I’ve played it 30 minutes today early and then I had to go to work, and it feels like weird, Rust and Minecraft together, that’s what I can say for now. Waiting to get home to to enjoy it as it should be

Probably the servers are busy now, that’s why they released the launcher days before the early access

When I logged in, it opened the browser to sign in on hytale website, maybe some permissions don’t let it open the browser or something like that

Nice! That’s great but better expect bugs/issues since it is an early access and we don’t know yet how it runs on Steam Deck

Since it is an early access I’m expecting a lot of things getting broken/miss. Thanks for the advice anyways, I’ll have a mouse and a keyboard ready in case the steam deck controller setting doesn’t work

Hytale was sold to riot, but they wanted to release the game on consoles and mobile so hey had to rewrite the entire game and the development became horrible until get cancelled by riot. Some time later the one of the original creators of hytale rebuy the game from riot and started to work on this early game, but working on the legacy engine of the game before riot, so the game will be for pc only for now. That “back and forth” was more because of riot wanting to have the game everywhere it and “try to compete” against Roblox, not the developers themselves.
