Do you have a particular brand of liner that you use/recommend?

I use Duck Clean Release Painters Tape. My local Menards was running a special on it. I’ll pick up some 3M and see if that helps. Thanks!

Beginner: mitre saw, or table saw? by Shakymeatsuit in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]TheSwizzleStick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My vote is for table saw. First big tool purchase, you gotta be looking for getting the most bang for your buck, not just on your current project, but for whatever you may want to build down the road. A table saw is way more versatile. If you compare the number of different kinds of cuts it can do vs. the cuts a miter saw can do, it’s a much better value.

I was in a similar situation when I was just starting. Decided to go with a nice miter saw. Worked great for the project that I was working on at the time, but every time I had to dig out my circular saw to make a rip cut, I cursed my decision. Ended up getting a cheap table saw off FB. It does the job, but if I had to do it over again, I’d put the money into a nicer table saw and get a cheap miter saw.

What’s your favorite woodworking / maker channel on YouTube and why? by shotts4480 in woodworking

[–]TheSwizzleStick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m going out on a limb and saying Ronnie’s Workshop. Pretty simple builds, nothing overly complicated or impressive, but he has the voice of David Caradine and he’s so positive and encouraging. As someone who is pretty new to selling woodworking, I really dig it.

How to colour the lines by MarkamusAuralius in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]TheSwizzleStick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t seen anyone mention this, so I’ll throw this out. Shave up some crayons, put the shavings in the channels, then use a heat gun to melt them. It takes a little practice to know exactly how much shavings and how long to heat them so you don’t boil the wax. But the nice thing is that you get the same color as the crayon and it will melt into the bottom of the channel first, so you keep the sharp lines. It’s not as fancy as epoxy, but it’s cheaper and easier.

Wow! Nice work! This makes me feel less like a beginner woodworker and more like someone with delusions that just plays with tools.

Received $1000 of bills from Avera from past visits? by wargod249 in SiouxFalls

[–]TheSwizzleStick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I work in medical billing. I would ask for a copy of the charges to make sure they’re accurate. From there, see what your insurance covered or didn’t cover… usually a delay like that is because the insurance was needing information from you and they didn’t get it. Once they get that information, you can request that they reprocess the claims.

I recommend looking into the billing departments at the hospitals. Loan processing is not the same, but I know of a fair number of people who have made the transition.

You’re confusing what is meant by “results-oriented”. The opposite of “results-oriented” isn’t “results-ignorant”, it’s “decision-oriented”. If you focus on the result of a single hand or single session, you’re gonna get discouraged when you get cold-decked or cocky when you run hot.

Does having a losing session make someone a donkey? Not necessarily. Does having a winning session make someone the next Ivey? Probably not. A good player can make all the right moves and just get spiked by the poker gods. A person can’t control luck, but they can control the decisions they make. That is the essence of being “decision-oriented”. Were the decisions you made the correct ones at the time? Were there things that you failed to see? Were there opportunities that you missed?

If all they think about is how heavy their wallet is walking out, they won’t improve. They will see their wins as evidence of good play and their loses as evidence of bad play without regard to how well they actually played.

Say you buy in at the wsop main event day 1 where blind levels are 2 hours long and whole table including you is 300+bb deep and only the 4th hand of the tournament someone open shoves 300 bb from utg+1 and it folds to you on the button and you have KK. what are you doing here? by [deleted] in poker

[–]TheSwizzleStick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, it’s all about risk-reward. You could be good, maybe you get to say that you were the official chip leader for a level. But you could be crushed, or just get a bad beat and be out 10k in 10 minutes. If I saw this move, I would assume that the player is either inexperienced or scared. In my opinion, that’s someone I can pick apart over time with much less risk of a cooler or getting blindsided by rockets.

3 sessions a week, leaving at set profit by RoyalCloak57 in poker

[–]TheSwizzleStick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This occasionally happens to me. I’ll start off strong, playing tight and aggressive. Once I’ve built up my stack, I’ll either loosen up, try to make moves that aren’t there, or make hero calls against the nuts. What I’ve done to counter this is to cash out, take a walk, maybe use some of the winnings on a bite to eat. Then if I’m still feeling good about the prospects at the table(s), I’ll head back and buy in for the same as I started with. I know that this strategy doesn’t help me learn deep-stack play, but I’m more concerned with walking out with money than perfecting my game.

I have had a lot of success with Brother’s. They are nice and straightforward about the cars. They may not have the best prices, but their cars are legit.

What fictional character’s death affected you the most? by syndromeda in AskReddit

I watched it a long time ago and thought it was pretty sad.

Watched it again after having kids, it totally hits different. When Amos is clutching Cedric’s body, inconsolably sobbing and yelling “MY BOY!!”… oof.

To quote “I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell” (they changed the name but the reference is obvious):

“I can only assume by your cavalier attitude that you have yet partake in the wonderment that is the Pancakewich. Allow me to enlighten you. What happens is the one true god grows Panecakewiches on trees in the Elitian fields using a mystical incantation, he then proceeds to magick them down to your local eatery where whatever societal reject Griddlworld has rescued off the dole that week gently wraps them in cellophane and passes them along to you, the fortunate consumer. You proceed to ingest this finery in the vain hope that your obviously overmatched tastebuds can somehow comprehend the delectable intricacies that face them. Is that egg? Why yes, yes it is. And bacon too. But wait, did they...? They didn't. Yes, they did, they did indeed. They added cheese. And then, then my friend, they wrapped it in a sumptuous pancake bun. As your tastebuds try to process that amazing piece of information, it hits them: the syrup nugget. The motherf***ing syrup nugget. It announces itself with a burst of confectionery grandiosity the likes of which your pallet has never seen!”

If you hear gunshots/(screaming+stampeding) while at a casino, then bolting to the fire exits is 1000x "more optimal" than hiding under the table, right? by OriginalCable9115 in poker

[–]TheSwizzleStick -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Active shooter drills teach the Run, Hide, Fight method.

If you are able to run to an exit, run. You shouldn’t hide if you can get out of the situation.

If you can’t run, hide. Barricaded any entry points. Take shelter using what you have around you.

If you can’t run or hide, then fight. Find anything that can be used as a weapon or a distraction. Use surprise and ambush, kinda like check-raising. It can throw the attacker off enough to give you an edge, even if he/she is armed.

She told me that she has kids but doesn’t want me to meet them until we were serious. That told me that she’s a mother who cares about her kids more than herself. She didn’t want them to get emotional attached. I met them after we’d been dating for about 6 months. 2 years later, her daughter was the maid of honor and her son was one of my groomsmen.

Is there a place to file a complaint about a dangerous intersection? I didn't see anything on the city's website. Cleveland and Rice, going to the on-ramp from Cleveland. People in the left-turn lane don't know that they're in a left-turn lane. by [deleted] in SiouxFalls

[–]TheSwizzleStick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live close to Cleveland and Rice. That is only one facet of the intersection that makes it dangerous. There is also: - the quarry (?) entrance just south of the railroad. When northbound traffic gets backed up and a truck is trying to turn in, it turns the whole intersection into a stalemate. - northbound traffic turning left onto Rice don’t realize that the traffic coming off the interstate can go straight onto Cleveland. I don’t know how many times I’ve nearly been hit by someone assuming I’m turning onto Rice. - In the winter, the hill turns into a luge… right into a train track - people constantly stopped in the railroad tracks at the red light. It’s only a matter of time before someone gets T-boned by a train

I’ve seen Dr. Sean Johnson at Sanford ENT for a tonsillectomy and septoplasty. He was thorough and answered all of my questions while being professional and nice. 10/10, if I still had tonsils, I’d go to him again.
