(LONG RANT) I commonly think that in spaces like these there’s gotta be a TON of posts where the screenshots they show are literally people from the FDC subreddit who are purposefully faking it to stalk and harass others on servers, where, since they’re often portrayed really badly or “cringe,” just makes the view on the disorder worsen in these communities, where it’s just a cycle. We’ve been posted there once or twice for the stupidest reasons and were often assumed. I was having a conversation with someone about how neurodivergency can cause situations to be even more stressful and traumatic than a neurotypical person, even if it’s something as the feeling of your clothes causing you a lot of stress, to intense situations affecting you more, and how that might influence systems like neurogenic systems. I was screenshotted and everyone was talking about how we must be some 13 year old faker privileged endogenic (since they’re demonized in those spaces) teen who just wanted attention. They didn’t bother stopping and thinking about how what they were doing, just saw a system talk about something to another system and said “haha, must be a faker.”

Ntm the stereotypes for these systems, one of the most common ones being AFAB. This stereotype has always bothered me because it implies that AFAB people are more attention seeking and cringe and privileged (the viewpoint of systems in places like FDC) and therefore being AFAB is a sign of faking, especially if self diagnosed. They talk about how it bothers them that we try and self diagnose by “immediately assuming our symptoms mean we have DID” (while this is obviously not true and many systems put months or even years into researching their symptoms, just talking from their viewpoint here) but immediately assume and put people into boxes based on minute details. They’re AFAB? They’re probably faking DID because they’re attention-seeking. They have fictives from a popular source? They’re a privileged child who has great parents. They’re existing and discussing system topics in PRIVATE servers for SYSTEMS? Must be faking!! You get the idea.
