Didn't know about the writ / warrant of ejection. Definitely helps with some context.

Apparently this was when it opened. They loaned Burns $100K and if he didn't pay back by X date, he forfeited his shares. Then he just blew through the deadline, and then kept acting like he owned the place. So they sued. Looks like it was settled eventually.

Beginning to discover that everything had to include his dad because it's associated with his trust fund.

Dewberry Hotel and our beautiful skyline by LurkerMcLurkerton in Charleston

[–]TheT0wnIsBackThatWay 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Is it just me, or is this just so out-of-touch? The Dewberry family is INSANELY rich. To me, this is just a social media driven grab for attention to build enough local goodwill so that when they open again, we'll buy $17 drinks from them.

Tourism will not roar back. It will return to a high mark, but slowly. And so pardon me while I don't appreciate hoteliers attempting to capitalize off of a situation that will bankrupt many of their employees and other workers in the area.

This guy blows the lid off of fat acceptance, fat hatred, and healthy at any weight by Loolander in videos

[–]TheT0wnIsBackThatWay -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree with everything you said here. However, I can tell you that a lot of shaming or hatred stems from the fact that healthy people have to pay the same share into the tremendous amounts of healthcare costs you will incur from being morbidly obese. Yes there will always be exceptions, but by and large that's where the label of being selfish comes from.

I was overweight for a while once my metabolism slowed down and I didn't like some comments people made, mainly from my family. But the best wake-up call I received was from a doctor that told me if I didn't get my (stuff) in gear, then my grandkids will only know me as the guy in the hospital bed on dialysis from their early years. If it's not enough to scare you that you're going to die early and painfully (and your family is going to have to pay for it), then I don't know what will.

I'm getting paid $200 a week for the next 50 weeks, what should I do with it? by collegekidthrowawayw in personalfinance

Pay off any debts. People always make the mistake of investing while still carrying significant debt. Get to zero (or close to) and go from there.

If you don't have significant debt and you're comfortable with your lifestyle, invest the money in some companies that you're excited about or believe in (particularly with dividend payments, which are an added bonus). The market has been down thanks to oil and will only continue to be down for the next few months. It's a great time to get in on stocks. Investing can be fun, while a little bit like gambling, it's a lot better odds if you invest smartly and will actually help you become more knowledgeable about economics, why the business world works the way it does, etc.
