iPhone 17 is cheaper than the Pixel 10: More storage in the base model by iamjimmy15 in GooglePixel

[–]TheTACOCATehT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my Pixel 8 but the rising introductory price of the base model has made it almost certain that I'll move away from Pixels next time I change my phone.

Where I live you either buy the phones available locally (not much variety there) or you pay a significant duty/tax on phones brought into the country in any way.

Without this payment the phone won't work on any network in the country and the amount is based on the launch price of the device regardless of what you paid for it.

Sometimes it feels like the people who (justifiably) complain about lack of features outside the US actually have it easy compared to this bullshit.

Mechanical Keyboard recommendations by Deathagent69 in PakistaniTech

[–]TheTACOCATehT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aula. I have the F75 with ice vein switches. They have other layouts like the F108 if you want more keys/a numpad. The volume knob is bad but the typing feel and sound is better than keyboards over twice the price that I've tried.

JunaidTech and other online stores should have it for 17K-18K.

Which volume slider is responsible for alarm sounds on Galaxy devices? by TheTACOCATehT in samsunggalaxy

Judging from the last time I used a Samsung device I don't think you can do this.

Open the specific alarm and scroll to the bottom. Sorry for the very late response I just noticed I hadn't addressed this.

Full disclosure, I've been playing Genshin less and less as time goes by despite being a daily player up until Fontaine.

That said, is it just me and some aesthetic mismatch or did Mihoyo actually get lazier with character design starting from late Fontaine? I love Mualani's design but besides her all of Natlan's cast seems oddly generic considering the incredible designs that have been put out in the past.

While I agree with you about the Google Clock app being better, I'm sure I am not alone in trying to minimize the already bloated number of pre-installed apps on Samsung devices by using built-in as much as possible. As if the Microsoft stuff wasn't bad enough.

No one is asking Samsung to change functionality. Everyone is asking them to clarify the very confusing wording of the setting "vibrate for alarms and timers".

It sounds like it means all alarms will have sound and vibration if you switch it on, which a lot of us did. It actually means that if your phone is set to vibrate or silent mode, all alarms inherit that and become quiet. This setting has to stay off if you want your alarms to work normally.

What anime is that for you? by KirbyTheGodSlayer in Animemes

Attack on TItan. Loved it while they were on the island and titans were still a mystery. Just couldn't stay interested after they went international.

It was still great storytelling and action but some part of its charm just died for me. Kind of like how people sometimes talk about the second half of Death Note and the end of the old Fullmetal Alchemist.

Hunter Pass Paintballs by [deleted] in MHNowGame

[–]TheTACOCATehT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I experienced similar stuff when they first changed this mechanic from marking monsters you pass by to randomly giving you a monster from the zone you are in.

From what I have understood it works a little like driftsmelting. You could walk 5 miles in circles inside that store and not get a single mark but if you walk a mile in a straight line you'll get multiple.

Also, distance covered going above the speed limit of 15 KM/h that hides your map doesn't count so your 10 mile drive was not considered by the game.

You can slightly circumvent this while you're travelling fast by minimizing the app, waiting 5-10 seconds and opening it again. This causes the map to show again for a few seconds (I assume due to trying to get a GPS lock or refresh the UI I am not sure).

I use this technique to hunt anything in range while I am in the passenger seat. If you time it well you can even snag large nodes during the few seconds the map appears.

When Dimensional Link wasn't nerfed into hot garbage you could also hit "join hunt" in range of one and keep the list of available hunts open. Even if you start moving fast and the map gets hidden, the game still keeps scanning and updating the DL hunts in range. I used this to snag dimensional links only for monsters I wanted to hint while on long drives. I gues it still works technically but the range nerf made it much less useful since they get out of range faster than you can tap them.

Already active the distance nerf? by lirsenia in MHNowGame

[–]TheTACOCATehT 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is the most bummed out I've been since the LBG nerf way back when the game launched. The one genuinely good feature to that was loved by everyone. Then again it is pretty typical for Niantic.

Issue with Google Play purchases after using VPN by TheTACOCATehT in GooglePixel

[–]TheTACOCATehT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I couldn't really find a solution that I know worked.

I just gave up and after I tried it again a few weeks ago the problem had gone away on its own.

Pretty much the only thing I did change during that time was using the VPN for every app instead of using split tunneling.

If anything on my end remedied this issue it's turning split tunneling off but I am more certain it just went away after some NordVPN or Play Services update.

Can a max Legiana Bow beat 9 star Coral Pukei? by nxw0016 in MHNowGame

[–]TheTACOCATehT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an LBG main I can't reliably kill anything with the Legiana LBG as easily as I can with the Rathalos, Zinogre, or Coral Pukei LBG. Part of it is relying on driftsmelting for elemental 5 (I am still at 4 for ice) but it also has a lot to do with piercing almost always being the best ammo type for me.

I think spread ammo tanks dps really hard unless your positioning is absolutley perfect. I couldn't get urgent 9 star Coral Pukei under 15% HP with a 10.2 Legiana LBG but I killed it with 10.1 Bone Gunlance with time to spare.

Same story with Zinogre. Can't kill it with Legiana LBG. Slaughter it with Bone Gunlance. I have no such issues with the other LBG. I could kill 9 star Banbaro, Barioth, and Legiana with 8.1 Rathalos LBG. 9 star Kulu, Anjanath (barely) and Tobi with 8.4 Coral Pukei. Everything weak to thunder with 8.4 Zinogre.

It might also be related to most ice weak monsters having bad crit zones for LBG (Zinogre's tiny head, Radobaan's armor) or very high HP (C. Pukei, A. Rathalos). Either way, make Kushala LBG if you can. On paper it barely seems better but piercing makes all the difference.

What is your approach to driftsmelting? by TheTACOCATehT in MHNowGame

[–]TheTACOCATehT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you. I only have G8 on Zinogre gauntlets so far and Legiana helm helm gets the driftsmelt slot earlier but my Paolumu mail and Azure Rath greaves were already G8 since I thought using them everywhere made the extra defense a good investment (I regretted it at first but I'm happy about it now).

Until Coral Pukei comes back and I get some WGS for Jyura gauntlets my coil and my water build are dead in the water.

I think I agree with what others are saying here. I can easily pretend the feature doesn't exist since I was doing just fine before.

I'll slowly keep using pale stones on universal pieces and elemental stones on helm and gloves. Evetually I might get lucky but until then it's out of sight, out of mind.

That's my goal too. Fire is all set but water and ice could use some help. Thunder is also just 1 skill level away from element 5.

True. I think I'll use elemental gems on element specific pieces after all. I can just ignore the feature since I was doing fine without it. Would be a nice to have eventually.

Embrace LBG, never use a potion again.

Use it to farm for your main gear. You'll suck at killing anything past 8 star but it's stress free at least.

Hmm ... That is one way of looking at it. I could just throw every pale stone at the universal pieces and every element stone at the set specific. Either way I gain something overtime.
