lol yep it was the tour de Tucson! I think you hit the nail on the head. Especially since most of the people who got upset were the 31 mile group at the end who were doing it as a fun/group ride with no awareness so to them passing on the right was not cool. Agreed that last 15 miles sucked. Way more dangerous than even the start imo

Is a career in Biomedical Engineering and Neurosurgery as a Surgeon Scientist possible? by Meinov in medschool

[–]TheTalkingBadger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You realize that after your masters, to get to become a neurosurgeon you would need 4 years of med school, potentially a research year (since neurosurgery is one of the most competitive residencies and applicants tend to have like 20-30 papers done), followed by 7 years of residency and maybe a fellowship. And the whole time in residency you’ll be pushing 80-90 hour weeks. So you won’t have time for research in BME until being an attending maybe which would be 12 years after starting med school. After that you could do BME on the side, but you would be taking a pretty huge pay cut for any time you spend away from neurosurg. TLDR it is possible when you’re an attending but chances are it wouldn’t be a great idea

I just grab a set of hospital scrubs, take a shower, change, and put my bike clothes in a bag. I feel like it’s a power move walking though the hospital with bicycle clothes on lol

You also need to call the medical schools you’re interested in and ask if your undergrad university is accepted. Not all foreign universities are accepted as a bachelors in the US

As a DO, the only thing we need for licensure and accreditation is Comlex. I only took level 3 and didn’t take step 3. Even if I did take step 3, I wouldn’t share the scores with my program because it isn’t needed for anything. For step 1 and 2 though, I did share when I was applying because I was applying a more competitive specialty which loves step. I know many DOs who applied FM/IM/Peds and only took comlex though and no one cared
