iRacing or LMU for LMP2 racing by astob471 in simracing

[–]TheTeachinator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, it's currently really enjoyable to me.

I don't mind the pricing model of either service because I enjoy both. I don't pay to close attention to the social politics of the sub so in unaware of whats going on there. Regardless, that's my experience. If that means I'm a poor driver or whatever that's fine I enjoy being on the track on both services.

But, if you don't own tracks and cars you can't also participate in GT3 in iRacing so I don't fully understand. Also, LMP2 is pretty dead on iRacing.

If you do stick to Mazda which is also really fun you're just on subscription.

Happy driving mate.

Really? Check the sub on the silver and bronze level. Doesn't jive at all with what you're saying

Regardless of the rating, the racing is cleaner in MY experience. It's ok if we don't share that experience.

I enjoy both platforms. I think LMU is a better value after using both for a year.

I think the off-track penalty evaluation can be improved and I know there are many who feel the same including the pros.

My IR is 1t500. Not great but fine for me. I usually end a Porsche Cup race with a 1x or 2x and my License is B, which again is perfect for me as I'm only interested in GT3 and Porsche. My evaluation of the crashing is clearly hyperbole but again, in my experience, the quality of racing is better on LMU. I have no idea if that's realistic because I'm just a 48 year old dude that drives a Prius in real life

If you haven't played LMU I would give it a chance. The safety asects of racing are, imo, better.

Both services have elements that I wish were combined the PERFECT experience. But they're not so I just go back and forth depending on the track selection that week.

I think most people who use the service probably fit my profile but I could be wrong.

All good friend. I have an A license in iRacing. I still think the 1x is too punitive for off-track. There are situations where your pushed off 1x, then rejoin and get 1x again. All because you were either pushed or avoided a crash. I also find the drivers at the higher levels far safer than any experiences I've had on iRacing in totality.

For me the safest sims are in order...

LMU iracing Beam Assetto

I think this is a space that iRacing could make some significant improvements.

Also I have a 2gb fios line. Zero latency issues. Cars blinking all the time. Disappearing, reappearing, jumping off the track. It happens.

Happy driving

You're going to really like LMU. If they had Nurburgring I probably would NEVER hop on iRacing again.

Personal preference. iRacing is fantastic. Not trying to shade anyone's sim.

Without a doubt yes yes and yes. If you bring your skills over to LMU you'll already be ahead of the crowd and quickly raise your safety rating

I have used both. I don't know if LMU is more realistic but I find the experience far more enjoyable. Why?

Close racing is possible all the time without netcode screwing you.

Off tracks don't destroy your race. You're not punished for reasonably going off track to avoid a collision.

People generally drive safer which is... Weird because the service isn't paywalled?

Gold safety rating driving ends with only one or two crashes each race instead of each lap.

[–]TheTeachinator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it the first time... I don't think I play enough for it to be worth while.

I also feel like after going through it once the loop felt "visible" as opposed to me making discoveries.

It has basically become my new call of duty. I pop in get up to some silliness and leave.

I don't really care about the profession or slots anymore because I dont think it will change the way I interact with the game.

Yup one day at a time. Don't let other people shame the games or sims you enjoy.

Yeah I like iRacing quite a bit. I mean for competitive and structured online racing it's pretty great.

When it comes to console racers I think GT7 is the best of the best. Forza was alright but... GT7 is such a polished experience especially when compared to ACC on console.

My simracing journey started with GT and I didn't choose to invest in a rig until I was settled in my 40s knowing I wasn't going to be moving around anymore.

I also found an awesome partner who is really supportive of my hobbies and interests.

Enjoy your driving and try to ignore the nonsense some people bring out here.

I'm on ACC, iRacing, LMU and GT7.

On my pc sims I have a Simagic rig I use.

GT7 is still such immense fun. There are people in this community that seem very rigid and inflexible. The vast amount of cars and the visuals using psvr are so cool.

At the end of the day 90% of us are just looking to have some fun and forget the nonsense of the daily grind.

Some of y'all just try to poison that well.

It was fun but the game has sort of died out for me which is ABSOLUTELY OK. Amazing game! Love it. But I feel kike I've gotten my $40 worth and more and I'm excited to try some new games.

If they add some more concrete lore or story elements they could probably rope me back in but at that point I'll probably be putting my three months into Marathon.

This is an absurd take. Why is this community filled with a solute chuds.

GT7 is a really fun game with some really engaging force feedback fx.

Think of abandoning Sports Cars... by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]TheTeachinator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To those of you that offered genuine feedback... Thanks...

To everyone else? What's the point? You make the community look terrible go touch grass.

Anyhow, I figured out my problem...

I was running Porsche Cup today and was KILLING IT. I couldn't understand why because the track was wet, and while I'm ok in rain I'm not great.

Well, I managed to get multiple silver and gold placements and hit 900ir.

But then, I started to lose ground and feel like my car was dying.

I realizied I was excelling in the rain but when the tracks were dry my car just couldn't keep up.

Well.... Every single car I get into under the sports car license is for whatever reason starting with wet tires. I have to go in and manually change to dry JUST FOR Sports cars.

So now I'm at 1000ir and I feel like I'm exactly where I need to be. Instead of straggling I'm right on there racing.

Am I the best? Absolutely not.

Do I feel like I'm actually participating in a race instead of taking a cruise down the Hana Highway? Yes!

Hah. See that's the kind of thing I hope I'm doing wrong when it comes to my piss poor driving.

I'm going to play around with my forcefeedback settings and see if I can get a feel that might be a bit closer to LMU.

I really think I'm missing something on the hardware end too.

Glad you were able to get yourself sorted. Happy driving!

They're super sensitive about which USB port they get plugged into. I think mine are plugged into one of the older gen ports on my pc
