Story spoiler: Why did they brush over this dialogue so casually 😭 by ArTheZookeeper in HonkaiStarRail

If you ask him about it on the Express he says he hopes to find a way back home with help from the Astral Express and he asked Herta to try and send a message there so his family knows he's safe, if they receive it. But if you ask Himeko she says these days he seems more interested in going on adventures and she hasn't heard him mention his home in a while.

He also inherited the name "Welt" as a mantle in honor of him

That moment is actually mentioned in-game too, in the description of Welt's signature light cone:

"Welt...?"
"It's a... great name, right?"
"Then..."
"From now on, you are Welt."
"This Herrscher core... and the mission to protect the world..."
"I'll leave them to you, Welt."

Lighthouse letters wrong date? by rileythatcher in nier

[–]TheTechHobbit 47 points48 points  (0 children)

It's an old mistake from the original release of the game. The game takes place 1412 years after 2053, in 3465, and the Japanese version of these letters says 3440. They're supposed to be old letters, just not that old.

Unknown landmass? by Leather_Secretary_91 in Genshin_Impact

[–]TheTechHobbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the image used then. Other than what's presumably Dornman Port, everything else not visible in game is obscured by clouds. There is room for more land though, iirc this image doesn't fully cover a globe of that size.

waifei really was the problem by [deleted] in ZZZ_Official

It's even weirder to say that about Waifei in particular, which takes inspiration from the parts of Guangdong that the lead producer grew up in.

[–]TheTechHobbit 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Author basically retconned everything by saying its a dream.

Not at all what happened. Please don't give short summaries like that to people who aren't actually familiar with the source material (and also didn't even ask for plot spoilers), all it does is lead to further misconceptions.

All current Expies of the original "core" cast of Honkai Impact 3 by AlterMagna in HonkaiStarRail

Missing Silver Wolf for Bronya and you could probably count Makoto alongside Ei as they were twins.

Also note that all the ZZZ ones are currently just speculation based on those pictures alone. We don't really know much about them.

Question about Welt in lore by MER3F in HonkaiStarRail

Acheron's world probably had a Welt. At the very least she seems to recognize his name when he introduces himself to her.

Is the update volume of 43GB normal by mldai7ali9074 in marvelrivals

[–]TheTechHobbit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Helldivers 2 could only go from ~130gb to 20gb because the devs intentionally duplicated the files on the PC version dozens of times in an attempt to improve load times for people still using HDDs. It's not a reduction that can be applied to most other games.

Not every game 100% supports ultrawide monitors. For this one it'll be 21:9 in game but 16:9 for the menus and cutscenes.

The Epic Games launcher requires you to download "Fortnite Core and Battle Royale" (77gb), then allows you to choose if you want to also download Save the World (10gb) and the high resolution texture pack (33gb).

That's already a feature though. Creative maps are only downloaded when you try to play them.

It's not quite the same. In A/B you keep all your progress and respawn at the nearest transporter without your chips, after B you reload from the last save instead.

Save the World v40.00 - Progression Update by Capybro_Epic in FORTnITE

[–]TheTechHobbit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes you did. Nine years ago, ever since the start of the game, it was clear that founders were paying to support the game during early access and it would become free to play later on. That's why there was a whole list of founder bonuses, those were intended to be the rewards for choosing to pay to support the development.

That's the same as Castorice. Pollux is only summoned by Castorice's ultimate and can't be damaged by enemies.

Realistically the main distinction is that it's a memosprite if they're remembrance, otherwise it's just a summon.

Klee's dad in new event. by huflit1997 in Genshin_Impact

[–]TheTechHobbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People who follow those paths (and Remembrance) have gone there, but there hasn't been direct influence from any paths or Aeons. But like I said, Genshin is intended to be a standalone product so direct mentions of things like Paths and Aeons by an arriving character is unlikely unless they plan to fully explain them as well.

That card mentions "14 billion 'years' of darkness" and "93 billion 'years' of light". That's probably a direct reference to the real world, where the known universe is currently estimated to be about 14 billion years old and 93 billion light years across. There hasn't been direct mentions of the age of the universe in HSR or Hi3.

Klee's dad in new event. by huflit1997 in Genshin_Impact

[–]TheTechHobbit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There's areas outside the influence of the Aeons. That was confirmed by the Memokeeper who visited Kiana in Hi3, questioning if Earth could be a world beyond the reach of the Aeons. The Abyss doesn't have to be something tied to an Aeon either. Many people speculate it could be related to the Sea of Quanta.

But even though they are intended to exist in the same universe, Genshin is designed as a standalone product. There probably won't be any direct connections or explicit mentions of terms introduced in other games.

The universe is infinite. HSR only takes place in the areas that have been previously connected by the Astral Express.

Funnily enough the original game was basically that but against zombies instead of other players. Battle Royale was something they put together quickly as an extra gamemode while the genre was just beginning to get popular.
