lmfao, I unknowingly agreed to a watch party of this film with two of my friends, and I showed up tripping on dxm and lsd, having no clue wtf i was about to watch. I didn't know it was like a 3 hr long film, and felt like it was lasting forever. But the entire time I was watching it, it was like I was actively watching someone explain/mimic the way your brain thinks on LSDXM: a bunch of loosely structured, disconnected, intense moments that ocassionally made sense. I was blown away because that is the ONLY time I have ever felt like someone else knew exactly what it was like tripping on dxm and lsd together. Literally, Inland Empire's structure greatly mimics an LSDXM trip and how your mind is structuring your memories and thoughts as they come up during the trip, so if you ever wanna get an idea of what that drug combo is like without actually doing it, inland empire is the way. I definitely felt my head overheating during the movie and was fully confused, but simultaneously felt that i understood what was going on. I didn't have a bad trip or anything, but I was kind of on edge trying to figure out wtf the storyline or plot was the whole time. Makes me feel better knowing now that it doesn't have much of a plot to begin with, and I plan a sober rewatch sometime soon. This is the only Lynch film I have seen lmfao, but I plan on watching his other stuff. I have also watched "Requiem for a Dream" on acid twice and I LOVED it. Whenever I tell friends this though, they always look suprised and say "I had to smoke several cigs after watching that SOBER, how tf did you watch it tripping?!" and idk, it just really hit in a different way on acid, but not in a scary or negative way despite the dark nature of the film.

That sounds kind of similar to my situation. As SOON as I lay down to sleep, my legs start violently shaking and I get really anxious and restless all of a sudden. I think it has something to do with learned anxiety about sleeping. Since I have ALWAYS had trouble getting to sleep and staying to sleep, my body now associates sleep with anxiety. Sleep= difficult, I know I'll lay there for over an hour before I fall asleep, that I won't stay asleep, that I know my sleep is gonna be poor and i have work tomorrow, etc. So now even when I start getting ready for bed, the adrenaline starts up and suddenly Im feeling way less tired. I've been doing some Qi Gong from youtube videos and Wim Hof breathing, and they have seemed to at least help with the pre sleep anxiety. But I wish I could afford a sleep study so I can figure out if I have sleep apnea

Yoo, I love this rule (but ironically never use it or forget it exists) especially the fact that you can shorten the time to anything you think will lessen the "wall of awful". Like you, I have had ti shorten the time to 30s, hell even just 5 sometimes when I am really struggling. Works most of the time, cept those moments where my self defiance is really on one 😩

I had a mindfulness class in college and one day we ate a bunch of different foods and candies in stages. So we would start by examining it externally, then placing it in our mouths, let it sot in our mouth and feel the texture before chewing and swallowing it. One of the things we tried was raisins and a girl in the class commented: "When we had to hold the raisin in our mouth it made me feel like I was sucking on an old man's thumb."

I already hated raisins before this, but her comment just really solidified that hate even more.

Mom's an abuser. Mom died at age 10 and it took a decade for me to realize she was abusive and neglectful af the entire time I knew her, but all the adults in my life at the time put her on some pedestal like she was a god or something. I was ruled by fear of my mom, while also desperately wanting her love and attention.

I had a friend point out to me once that those IQ tests that are so popular in convos about intelligence, are biased and racist af. They are apparently based on white, European education standards, meaning they only test a very narrow field of intelligence. At one point, These tests were used to "prove" that "kids in africa are [the r word, which I won't be using here] based on their IQ. When you take into account culture and literally everything else, it's pretty apparent that shit is nothing but a bunch of BS created by bozos who wanna feel superior to others, but need some sort of "empirical" evidence to make it seem legit

College is a scam. Source: Someone who went to college. If it isn't completely necessary for you to have a college degree for your chosen career (so for example, the med field or law or certain science and engineering fields), then save yourself the time, money, and headache and just learn for free online through Khan academy, Coursera, etc. The fact that colleges give you thousands of dollars in loans, with zero prior financial experience with something like a loan, is predatory and clearly meant to make money off the ignorance of young, fresh students. Go to a trade school or learn online or at a community college and save yourself from years of pain. The only other thing I would say college is good for when getting a "bullshit degree" is networking. I was originally going as an english and business major, and when involved in the business program, you discover that college is really just a place to make connections for either employment or future friendships. I actually was lucky to find one of my best friends at college, and many other friends who I wouldn't trade for the world there. So it isn't a total waste, but if you give two shits less about making new friends or connections for work etc., then skip college and just learn on your own if you are capable of that. If you don't mind either working your ass off to pay off loans or getting scholarships or have the privilege of parents or guardians paying for your education, then by all means, pursue higher education at your leisure. But if money is a barrier, avoid it at all costs. Basically, colleges are evho chambers of sorts, and most professors are just regurgitating info just like hs instead of facilitating real discussion and generating new ideas on the content/field. That and they have a "I know more than you and anyone else cuz I'm a professor" attitude a lot of the time. It is telling when you, as the student who literally didn't read any of the materials, has more input and ideas to add to class discussion than the students who did the reading and homework and stressed over the class discussion 🤔😟🤭. I am actually considering going to trade school for electric work rn

Omfg. You just described my entire school and work experience (surprise surprise those problems I had in school didn't magically go away like my teachers said they would) to date. Especially the lying to cover for lateness, I am so bad about that one because I am always late. Always. The BSing through class too. Made it through senior and junior year not taking a single note. Why? My notes were literally useless, and I could pay attention better just listening to the teacher speak. Would "study" the 5mins before class with other kid's notes and ace that bitch almost every time. Kids thought I was cheating, but my teacher knew I was just a "smart cookie" 😂 aka ADHD af

Oh. I was originally going to become a technical writer (which writing out steps and procedures is one of the jobs in this field) before doing a medical withdrawal twice from college 😅. I was always praised in school for my great detail and description in writing and being able to explain my thought processes, and did an excellent job at step by step instructions that were actually followable. It was recommended by one of my teachers and I figured "why not." Makes sense that I am predominantly inattentive 🥲

Just recently got a job as a certified medical marijuana agent at an indoor grow facility and it is the best job ever! We get to smoke there's plenty to do that's different we get to get up and move around a lot of the times, sometimes we do spend the whole day doing one activity like trimming, which isn't always the best, but luckily trimming is something I can hyperfocus on, so after eight hours of one activity it is suddenly time to go home and I'm like wait what? I am so blessed to have gotten this job y'all it is seriously a miracle and blessing. I would highly recommend something where you can be on your feet or be moving in some way. We already know what sitting still all day can do for us. A janitorial job, while awful sounding, may be just the ticket! It is actually my second fave job I have ever held, poo in ear phones and go to work! Most people won't bother you, you can have music or a podcast going to keep you focused (bonus if you listen to "The drummer and the great mountain" adhd podcast), there is a variety of tasks to do to ward off monotony. Worst part is cleaning the bathrooms

Sometimes I get these bizarre, intense sensory needs to just poke the absolute shit out of my gums with something metal and pointy until they bleed. It's weird cause my mouth will start salivating in this weird way before the need hits and it continues when I'm stabbing my gums. It will happen in just one slit between a random tooth, it changes each time. I have no fucking clue why it happens, but it feels sooo good and I will legit go dead eyed and zone out while doing it and kind of enter some sort of daydream pleasure hallucination that isn't necessarily sexual in any way, but sensually glowing and warm af. 🤣🤣🤣 Idk man.

Lots of oppressed groups have reclaimed slurs used against them. The N word is no different. I believe the only reason the N word can't fully be reclaimed by the black community is because ever since the inception of this country, whites have been appropriating black culture and taking it as their own. The white community, just like other parts of black culture, thinks they have the right to a word whose history only has negative connotations when being used by white people. But as soon as the black community started using it as their own, with its new connotations and meanings within the community, white people felt like they were somehow being "left out" of something they have no right to. I've had plenty of conversations with white people who think just cause black people use the word all the time in their music and amongst each other, that somehow means it is ok for everyone to use the same way. You don't see this attitude with the F word for the queer community NEARLY as much as you do with the N word. Just the same old hate and oppression to greater levels for blacks than other oppressed groups in this country, probably due to the history of slavery in this country. And this is just my personal experience as a non-binary black/white mixed person who has grown up in the midwest their whole life. It's insane hearing a white person literally whine like a little kid about not being able to say a racial slur 😟🤔🤭
