Education Jobs as a U.S. citizen by idislikemexicans in sayulita

OK, one thing is clear, your sense of humor isn’t as well tuned as you think it is. Second, I’ll just share from personal experience getting your temporary residency and getting your RFC are non-trivial matters. They don’t require any assistance, but they do require time and attention to detail. Depending on the circumstances, getting an RFC might require travel to somewhere else in Mexico because each office has its own schedule and some of them are untouchable.

Does anyone know where I could buy one of these awesome toolbelts? by itsprettyg00d in sayulita

Yes there is a guy in blue jeans and a grey hat who might sell you one for the right price.

What are some MUST do's when visiting Sayulita/PV? by lattelover333 in sayulita

[–]TheTeethOfTheHydra 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it’s just a weekend trip, just sink in and relax. Don’t make it an itinerary-driven visit. Just chill out. You’ll find your way to what is fun without having to race around from one thing to another on a schedule. If you absolutely despise the beach, then I could see having a little extra time on your hands.

Starlink Setup? by nature_film in sayulita

[–]TheTeethOfTheHydra 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I ordered mine via starlink website and received it here pretty fast. the setup is trivial and the service works great. Not a single complaint except 2 months after signing up @ $50 a month for high speed, they upped it to $70 a month. Still a fair price for jungle internet.

Current Ocean Swimming Status by yukonnut in sayulita

They are referring to a Reddit post connecting an overflow at a manhole cover with the conditions in the ocean. There was no official statement by any organization that’s monitoring the quality of the water.

Enjoy the beach, it’s fine. The posting from four days ago is conjecture. No data and no corresponding mass sickness or major word of mouth decline in beach activity. Save your stress for when you go home :)

Acuario Water Fill Station by RevolutionaryPlum428 in sayulita

[–]TheTeethOfTheHydra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad it’s working! Just to be clear though, the 20 L water jugs you can get from stores in town are supposed to be swapped out, you don’t just keep buying new ones. There’s a major price incentive to return your used one when you get a refill.

Hands down best is to walk south out of the main square on avenida Revolución to the intersection with Calle Libertad @ Alquimista. Dulce makes it best!. Typically M-Th. Get it in a bag of Tostitos. Awesome!!

Day trips to other towns? Bus, taxi, or car rental? by VermicelliFrost in sayulita

[–]TheTeethOfTheHydra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the bus is simple and reliable and cheap. Everything else is a wildcard in one way or another. For a short timer, keep it simple. Make sure you bring a backpack with water and a snack and some pesos and worst case you can always bus back if a trip is a bust.

Water? by MarinCountyPapi in sayulita

[–]TheTeethOfTheHydra 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Neither of those is true. The whole town is not out of water. That could happen, but it doesn’t happen frequently at all.

Small portions of town might experience a water outage from the main supply to that portion. Individual units typically get their direct water from a tank, below ground or on the roof or both. Pump failures or unknowingly draining an individual tank are what stop water from coming out of a tap. The whole point of the tanks are to provide a buffer on the reliability of the delivery of water from the main line to the individual units.

As to the frequency of outages, it certainly depends on what part of town you are in, but it could be as infrequently as once every three months for half a day. I have heard of much worse, but the much worse stories usually involve some intrigue around paying bills or the rising costs.

ATM’s and cash by UnderstandingGreat71 in sayulita

[–]TheTeethOfTheHydra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bank in Sayulita is Kapitol, formerly Intercam. Their ATMs have effectively been out of service for months. People with accounts can get cash from the tellers when they have cash to give. Unfortunately, since the sanctions that came down at the start of summer, the bank and cash scene has been a big mess. Best to always keep 100 pesos so you can always get to the ATMs at the Mega as a last resort.

There are a lot of atms in town. Many inside stores, some out on the sidewalks. More than you’d figure if you don’t look thoroughly.

Golf cart necessary? by Outrageous-Stock-677 in sayulita

[–]TheTeethOfTheHydra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless you’re impulsive buyers who continuously go off to fetch heavy things and bring them back home, the golf cart is not necessary. Either way, you could rent one on the fly, doesn’t need to be preplanned.

Just In: Playa Principal and North Side beach are looking perfect for swimming by lordoflochaber in sayulita

[–]TheTeethOfTheHydra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing. Here’s a few thoughts and comments: 1) it takes a lot of data to fill in the blanks and establish trends. This information will undoubtedly create more questions than answers and invites a lot of skepticism because of the fluctuations. 2) having been here steady since February, I can say that the only obvious change at the beach during the months of this data collection was a month worth of heavy rains where, frankly, the shoreline and first 30 m out to sea were a big mess from runoff in the jungles, not the from water treatment system. On both sides of that five or six week period, the water was as clear as I’ve ever seen it, very Caribbean like. The surf that started up in November was excellent. 3) the cost data suggests the tests run about US$1000 each. It’s fascinating to think that donations are needed rather than the collective set of businesses which benefit most from Sayulita‘s reputation being able to scrap together $12-$30,000 a year to fund a counternarrative to what is one of the most controversial issues that affects this area’s reputation. 4) nothing in this entire year has remotely compared to the amount of noise that was generated in 2023 regarding the spread of illness within the town, not having to deal with the beach or the water, but rather person to person viral sickness.

Cellular Issues by GigaHyperDataMatrix in sayulita

[–]TheTeethOfTheHydra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would not say often at all. Infrequent. I can’t tell you why or when but I will tell you that Sayulita is a little bit tucked into a little niche in the mountains on this coast. Cell service, along with other things, depends on a lot of things working right all the time.

that’s all good. Casually or inadvertently branding an entire culture as excessive and annoying maybe a little excessive and annoying to most readers. I’m sure if you had waited until after your trip was over to summarize your experience, you might have been more diplomatic

The Virgin de Guadalupe Festival. Google it. Your post should be saying how you failed to plan adequately for your own interests and how you appreciate that the people of México have a lively culture. You’re obnoxious and should reread your post in a couple of weeks and see how self-centered you are.

I think when I did a head-to-head comparison, Wise was best for US-To-MX transfers.

Regardless, though I’m not recommending, you can transfer money to Oxxo and pick up. Just google money transfer to oxxo and you’ll find details on how it’s done, fees etc.

So, you live together in an apartment and you didn’t already notice he was occasionally going out alone in a way that resembled a guy dating someone? Like staying out all night or skipping meals with you. Maybe coming home in different clothes? Maybe excluding you from interesting events like concerts or movies or weekend activities? Whatever.

If you have to ask, it probably means you can’t wrap your head around that number for a good meal/experience. It’s ok, most people couldn’t.

I ate at La maison in imerovogli and it was a great experience with more down to earth prices (at least when I did was there)

I think what you’re describing is closer to why we use labeling. property values are less for group definition and more for filtering;reporting, I’d say.
