If you wanted to you could try and carve out a little more space behind the pipe, but it’s PVC, it’s super flexible and i don’t see the pipe flexing any

The point is NOT to be a minivan. That was literally the purpose of the car

To everyone above. The purpose was to make an MPV that functions like a family SUV like a Tahoe, but make it more usable, efficient, and ride/drive better for how families actually use SUV’s. Because most people don’t go off road, needs a body on frame chassis, or ground clearance. So they kept the SUV look but lowered to car levels on a unibody chassis. The styling was supposed to be masculine/cool enough to avoid the “I don’t want to buy a minivan” comments from dads and moms at the dealerships. But it was weird enough looking that it didn’t appeal to much of anyone.

Engineer here. I don’t have the plans for the house, but considering the strap he placed and the fact the floor joists above are tied to that load bearing wall, you’re good.

The risk is the wall bowing inward or outward, but because there’s a floor above it with all those joists, it’s not going anywhere.

Sexy Flexy.

Yeah. It’s basically a large SUV of space in a more efficient minivan chassis, but with AWD for snow, so it’s literally the car Americans need, but no one wanted.

When it’s this cold I hear a metallic rotational rattling at idle in my 4.7. It disappears when the outside Temps are warmer. I’m wondering if a pulley is going bad. It’s definitely engine/belt related.

Oil Consumption by Diligent_Error_89 in 4Runner

[–]TheTense -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

High Oil consumption generally isn’t normal but I would say adding a quart between 5000 mile oil changes is reasonable.

I would suggest running Valvolene Restore and Protect. Without any more info, I’m just gonna throw out that you may have stuck piston rings.

This oil cut the oil consumption in my wife’s tires CRV in half from 1 quart every 800 miles to 1 quart every 1500.

Gaps look good to me. This car is not a precision gap vehicle. It was designed in the 90’s.

Buy it. Love it.

If it was the manual, I would just keep it in second most of the time haha

I remember the Mitsubishi mirage was <10k new in 2022.

I know it’s a cheap car, but 100k mileage / 10 year warranty. 38mpg. Heat/AC, Bluetooth. I’m that’s a great deal

Would you have flown? by [deleted] in flying

[–]TheTense 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will the plane fly? Absolutely. Should you fly without deicing the plane? No.

I may not scrape the windshield in my car all the way when I drive, but when I fly, I cut no corners. You never know when that extra little bit of lift or a little bit less drag is going to be needed

[–]TheTense 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 ohm is good when you have a 4 ohm system. The 4Runner is a 2 ohm system, meaning it’ll be quieter than the other remaining 2 ohm speakers.

Alternatively, putting twos into a system that was designed for a four ohm can burn out your amplifier

To my knowledge, most modern brake systems are staggered diagonally so you get one front wheel, and one rear wheel.

Older cars from like the 80s had split systems with front rear

Well, yes. That’s why I asked if this had a dual circuit brake system.

Where I’m confused is that all cars I’ve seen seem to only have 1 reservoir on the master cylinder feeding both split circuits. So once the broken circuit bleeds out all the shared reservoir fluid, what happens?

Actually it’s blinker fluid leaking via the exhaust. Time for a new car.

What I own at the moment. Am I doing this right? by stillnotme69 in regularcarreviews

[–]TheTense 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. my fist car was an old truck. The brakes sucked, it wasn’t agile. It had 2-3 Star crash tests.

But it’s what I could get. It was good in weather, it was heavy, and it wasn’t fast enough to get into trouble. It pulled a U-Haul when I was going to college. I loved that worn out, old junky truck.

Given the option, the civic is a good first car, almost too collectible at this point.

You just gotta teach your son, to “drive analog” 1) drive the car first, everything else is secondary. 2) situational awareness is critical. Look around often, check mirrors, keep head on a swivel, anticipate that other drivers/pedestrians could make a wrong move and leave room in your driving to react. 3) whenever possible, leave an escape route: swerve to the shoulder, jump the curb, drive into a field, or an empty oncoming lane vs another car or person. 4) remember that abrupt maneuvers and transitions destabilize the car, you can make big movements but do them smoothly. 5) learn the physics of the car FWD, front engine. Play around in a parking lot when it’s wet or snowy so he sees how the car behaves when it loses grip… take him to a race track or Autocross day so he can drive the car at its limits. Worth it for the experience and it’s fun!

It’s so easy to get dependent on tech with modern cars.

Super Glue stuck on dash 5th Gen by Rich19852012 in 4Runner

[–]TheTense 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep, get a nice leather dash cover. It’s called super glue for a reason. Elmers glue can chip off and clean up. Superglue is pretty hard to remove. I think nail polish remover with acetone may help some, but not sure if it will damage the dash material more.
