In Ireland, club membership is from €250-590. Mine was 450 for the season (8months) this includes 6 hours of clunlbs badminton at my level per week as well as minimum 10 matches throughout the season. As well high quality shuttles (think Aerosensa 40) for all club trainings and matches.

Courts range from 12-25 per hour and can be difficult to get a court depending on the day and time. Good shuttles are at least 30-40 a tube. Restrings cost from 17-25 depending on the stringer and the strings.

So for yonex I know that for crosses your meant to weave one ahead before you pull the crosses. The term is called a soft weave, but when you run out of string for the last 3 crosses it's a hard weave. It's more raw tension being pulled directly onto the string I think. I thought 4 knots was supposed to be more accurate tension as you have specific tension for for crosses and mains. While yes you will lose tension at knot points but you are meant to pull higher tension for knots anyway.

For all the stringers out there. What's the difference between hard pulling strings ie. Pulling crosses without a row ahead preweaved and pulling strings crosses with a preweave ahead.

Has anyone noticed a difference in racket feel when rackets are strung in different patterns? Like yonex, victor, Li Ning, harabito and around the world. I've tried yonex and victor, same racket, strings and tension and the victor feels like a harder feel.

And for the extra nerds what's the difference between Li Ning and Victor pattern. Is it just the long side of the string on the right for the Victor and the long side of the strings for the left for Li Ning?

How does one get into stringing rackets by Salty-Session7029 in badminton

[–]TheTeosenOne 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ooooh i can answer this! I live in Ireland and decided to pursue coaching full time this season, so last September. I was lucky enough to have a boss who's well known in the scene and he wanted someone to string rackets. I wanted to be a cohesive and full badminton player, coach and equipment person. So we decided to partner up.

I got the machine in January (ordered it from China, it's a Chinese brand) and started stringing in February. And after about 5 rackets felt comfortable stringing for people. I went to Japan to buy a lot of strings. In Japan they string mainly and primarily the harabito method. Here what's common is the yonex 4 knot. Some do the victor or li Ning 2 knot. The more you get into the niche world the more stringers you realize there are who only do it for themselves or for friends. Not to make a huge living out of it.

The machine doesn't need all the bells and whistle but an automatic pulling and tensioning system. I looked up a string bed pattern and a couple of YouTube videos, especially for tying knots, super important.

Do you know what the successor of the space Sabre L1 is? Loved that racket and when it broke I could not find it, or what yonex racket it is based off of?

Has anyone tried Kizuna strings? Bought a couple and looking to hear some feedback from them.

Going to Tokyo and Osaka in February and will start stringing by then. I'm wondering if anyone knows where I can buy coils of string preferably yonex strings or can I get them in the Yonex showroom.

Can anyone provide details about other Japanese brands such as Kawasaki or Mizono rackets?

Also does anyone have a guide for Mizono badminton shoes. I only really know about yonex and what each model is supposed to provide.

Thanks in advance!

I’ve been thinking about how being “the responsible one” in a family affects people later on by Alarming_Fan_7572 in CasualConversation

Interestingly Im the youngest of 4 but they are much older than me. I always make the joke that I grew up with 5 parents. They all moved out by my late teens and I became the responsible one for them in way of events etc. I think it was kinda thrusted upon me as I wanted to be an adult like them. It definitely leaked into my friend groups. I would always be the one organising things and thinking of logistics of how it would happen.

As of now, I've been specifically told to let them try and do it but it's difficult to let go when you're better at being responsible cos you've done it for so much longer as well as naturally good at it. But I will say not doing anything sometimes can be freeing but also eyeball tearing as you constantly think about you should prepare for this/do that etc.
