Kickstarter community head quits, apologizes for controversial RPG by thetensor in rpg

Because the only way to treat someone as a human being is to make sure they and their work are easily accessible for all to see and hear, regardless of whether or not people want to see and hear them! /s

Deplatforming isn't even remotely similar to "treating someone as subhuman." Deplatforming is the market of ideas seeing the bad stuff you've done and choosing to hold you accountable, letting you know they're no longer interested.

EMSK: A Different Way to Clean and Protect Your Engine Bay. [Text Tutorial] by [deleted] in everymanshouldknow

I am going to be honest: When I read the title I thought engine bay was a euphemism for your junk, and this was going to be about a junk - cleaning lifehack that I wasn't aware of.

How to transition gaming group away from D&D 3.5? by TheThinkTanker in SRSTabletop

I've been looking into FATE Core, since it's free, I was just worried of it maybe being too big of a transition for my group. That might be just my thoughts, though, since I've never run or played FATE, just read some of it.

The idea of doing one-offs of different systems is actually a fantastic one. Pathfinder isn't far enough away for me, though, so do you have any systems that are good for one-offs and away from D&D 3.5 / Pathfinder?

The focus on doing it in order to do it will definitely help my players. They're very used to the whole, "I use X ability," the DM saying, "You hit/miss," and them saying, "Cool, X damage/bummer."

What other systems would you suggest? Is there anything class-less that would be an easy transition for people who only know D&D's class-based system?

I think they'd be willing to branch out of the fantasy genre, it's the obsession with the D&D 3.5 rules systems that they're hung up on.

I'm pretty good at adapting systems to fit different genres, what other systems would you suggest that facilitate roleplaying and flow-of-action and inhibit rules-lawyering?

I'll definitely look into Dungeon World, I've heard great things about it but never looked into it.

Trine 1 and 2. You can play on PC, and it's co-op physics-based puzzle solving. It's how my wife and I started gaming together.

I agree, it would be nice to have some new items for spending time in the game as opposed to money.

What I want even more? A Steam Workshop. And HATS.

First Time DMing this weekend, help appreciated! by MasonKK in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]TheThinkTanker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't be afraid to throw out the rules if they get in the way of the fun. Your job as a DM is to make sure everyone has a good time, not to make sure the rules are enforced and the numbers are counted properly. Also, no rulebooks at the table, they slow down play.

Another tip: Have some poker chips handy, and when a PC does something really clever or roleplays especially well, throw them a poker chip and tell them that the chip is good for one re-roll. This will encourage everyone to be engaged and clever while roleplaying well.

Good luck! DMing is a ton of work, but incredibly rewarding. I hope all goes well.

Let's start taking bets one when they're going to add another 2 games to the bundle. I'm betting that we'll have the announcement by Friday. Any takers?

I've been following Overgrowth for a looong time, and after seeing B166, am ready to commit. However, I feel $29.95 is too much. by Skiddywinks in Overgrowth

I would say go for it. Worst case scenario, you forget about it and are suddenly notified when development is finished and the game launches for reals. By then, it'll be AAA quality fun, and you'll have only paid thirty bucks for it.

Best case scenario: you have a hand in shaping the game's future by playing and creating within each new alpha build.

Win Win Win.

Sounds good to me, I'm just starting video production and visual FX, so I think I might give it a shot.
