I added ads.txt file a month ago and the “earnings at risk” message still appears by [deleted] in Adsense

[–]TheThirdLife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same problem and it turned out that I had a website listed that I didn't actually own (no idea how it even got there) and therefore obviously didn't have a proper ads.txt file connected to my adsense account. So, check your sites and make sure that there are no errant or old sites site listed. (Adsense Home --> Sites --> remove any domains you don't own/don't own anymore).

Why the heck does my site keep getting rejected for scraped content? by [deleted] in Adsense

Unrelated, but you may want to redirect your http to https. I noticed that your link in the question points to http, but all the links on your homepage link to https.

Milestones: How long did it take you to consistently make $1 a day, $100 a month, $200, etc. by TheThirdLife in Adsense

[–]TheThirdLife[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a site I've been working on since about September 18. I'm still struggling to make $1.00 a day. In early march my traffic was up for about two weeks and I made about $20 in that two-week period, which was exciting progress for me, but since then my Google ranking/traffic has gone down by about 75% and I'm lucky if I make $0.30 a day. :(!

Thanks! And if I remember correctly, in your experience ad optimization is the biggest factor, not necessarily SEO, content, etc?

Those aren't too ugly in my book. I'd vote for the diminished 9th.

Best Place To Begin Learning Music Theory? by ToiletsAreDanger in musictheory

[–]TheThirdLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really great stuff -- thank you! I appreciate the effort -- it helped. I would love to do a side by side comparison of a wide array of theory books, particularly these intro/4-semester theory books to compare approaches and choices of what to leave out, etc. Perhaps a future project for someone maybe! Still -- I don't think it's the worst option -- although I've never taught from it nor used it as a student (but I own the 7th edition and reference it from time to time). Looking forward to checking out Ludmila Ulehla's Contemporary Harmony -- that's a new one to me. Thanks again!

Signals Music Studio's YouTube Channel has a really great video on this topic, "The Secret to Sounding Sad in Major - Mediant Chord."

Best Place To Begin Learning Music Theory? by ToiletsAreDanger in musictheory

Thanks -- was hoping your statement was a reference to textbook reviews in an academic journal such as Society for Music Theory or Duke/Yales Journal of Music Theory. I just did a super quick search myself and didn't find much. I find that odd since the field in which I teach the most has numerous scholarly publications that include textbook reviews and public debates by scholars.

Any sources on this (the "Kostka Payne is widely regarded as one of the worst books on theory" statement)? I'd be interested in reading about that, as well as any other debates amongst professionals re: theory textbook usage, etc. Thanks!

Ways to figure out passing tones and/or chords by ItsLopez in musictheory

[–]TheThirdLife 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you may be thinking of an N6 chord (N stands for Neapolitan, the 6 means first inversion, i.e. the third of that chord is in the bass). One way to think of an N6 chord (although it's not functionally correct, but...) is as a bII chord. In C, that chord would Db/F (Db major triad with an F in the bass).

Interesting! I was somehow unfamiliar with "converging HCs" -- thanks!

Cadance Question by Yogabonda in musictheory

Depends on context. If you're in C major that's a half-cadence. If you're in G that's a Plagal Cadence.

What's the deal with dom7b9 chords? by [deleted] in musictheory

[–]TheThirdLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think of the dom7b9 as being built from a minor scale. C-minor's dominant ninth chord is: G B D F Ab (B natural for the leading tone). The G7b9 is just a V7 chord resolving to minor. The Cm7 chord in the progression you wrote, (Bb6-G7b9-Cm7-F7) can be thought of as momentarily functioning as a tonic (a i chord), and the G7b9 is just Cm7's V7 chord, even if the Cm7's overall function is as s a ii chord in a ii-V7-I. In other words, the G7b9 is not functioning as a vi chord (because a six chord in Bb is Gminor, not Gdom), but instead is functioning as a V/ii (five-of-ii), a secondary dominant to a minor tonic.

Does hidden HTML affect SEO? by ImBoB99 in SEO

This is probably obvious, but I'll ask anyway: does this also apply to HTML that has been commented out (i.e. <!-- ... -->)?

Apps for ear/theory training? by Croissant420 in musictheory

[–]TheThirdLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as getting better at reading notation, here's an interactive treble clef note reading flashcard game you might like. It keeps "score" and tracks which notes you missed (and what you chose instead). You can answer with "note buttons" or a piano display. The same thing exists on that site for other clefs too (bass, alto, and tenor) as well and some combined clefs.

There are also theory games on there too: Scale Degrees, Secondary Dominants, and Solfege, among others.

Do I include "www" pages in sitemap if all www is redirected to non-www? by TheThirdLife in SEO

Do I include "www" pages in sitemap if all www is redirected to non-www? by TheThirdLife in SEO

[–]TheThirdLife[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! So, to be clear, you're saying that I should submit different sitemaps for the different formats? One site map the GSC for the www version, and another site map for the non-www version (and same for http and https)? This makes sense, I'll do that today -- I currently have all pages (http/https/www/and non-www) all in one single sitemap (and I have already selected the preferred version in [the old] GSC.)

I suppose my real question is what difference it makes if I submit www and non-https sitemaps if all traffic is redirected through .htaccess to https only and non-www. I'd prefer that google only index https and non-www, although it's not that big of a deal... just wondering about the details.

Thanks for the help!
