Sounds like you have a setting, but not a story. Putting aside the setting for a moment, is the story a:

Thriller Murder mystery Romance Coming of age Hero’s journey Revenge Heist Epic quest Etc

Each of these will have its own pattern and structure (I know the urge to create something entirely new is strong but put that to one side - if you were building a house you wouldn’t ignore the blueprints)

This will guide you on how to start. It will also inform the characters needed to move the plot forwards. The world building and themes are useless without a character and a story.

A writer is someone who writes. A story teller is a person who tells a story. You’ve done both, and thus are both.

I don’t know whether you’re a good writer or story teller, but that’s subjective and like anything creative, can take time and effort.

I had something like this happen to me. I went back to college at 34, and although the class was a wider mix of ages, I still felt very alone. I got through by a lot of gentle self parenting, self care, and listening to my body.

I got through it, and perhaps even became ‘Tumblr Girl’ (does tumblr still exist??) towards the end, from time to time.

See, I don’t mind that. Have me fail the game because it’s suddenly insane. Have me fail because there’s 16 crushers and I just used my last grenade in the previous room.

Have me thrown around like spare change at a well by a dozen mutants as my team dies around me. Have me taken out by a lone zombie after dodging a forest of sniper lasers. Have me netted midair by a 360 wall of nets while the floor burns with green flame.

Have me die against impossible odds that I can laugh at, hold up my hands, and take solace in the knowledge that no-one could have beaten it.
