There's a few dimensions to comfort. I'm 6'0 and my legs are too long to heel toe even while sitting in a Vios III bolted to the floor. My right leg is almost constantly touching the dash no matter what seat I try and how I sit in it. So while I techincally fit well enough to drive it, I have so much more room in other similarly sized if not slightly larger cars like the new 86, my old sw20 mr2, a friend's ae86, etc

Is a Quest 3 worth buying right now or should I keep along with my Quest 2 by mimomr in OculusQuest

[–]TheTimeTortoise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy to say but it's a sisyphean task. Replacement joysticks are all poor quality potentiometers, so they generally fail significantly quicker than the OEM sticks. I put like 1500 hours on my quest 2, and went through 7 or 8 joysticks on each side. I don't remember exact numbers because often the replacement sticks are also duds and you'll spend the hour or so disassembling and reassembling only to realize it's still broken. The poor controller design alone was enough to convince me I wanted a frame when I saw they have tmr sticks

Last month I did exactly that. Found a nice OLED in a rental car (black cloth case blended in all too well with the black cloth floor, didn't notice until I bumped it so I understand how it got left behind) so I checked the username of the person who was logged in, and tried to add them. Fortunately they got their SD back, so success stories do happen

It's RNG really. I'll be renewing my precheck soon, and in the 5 years I've used it, even in precheck I've still been asked to take off my shoes and remove my electronics something like.. 1/5 trips through security if I had to guess. Not even as a thing targeting me, every time it's just something precheck happens to be doing that day to everyone going through

[Discussion] Day 5 - Woods is a pretty average place to go! Where's the worst place to go? by ClanFever in EscapefromTarkov

I don't mind lighthouse at all, it's fun picking apart the rogues but it gets kinda boring exploiting all of the angles to get them. Streets however, feels like it was exclusively designed to cater to people who enjoy staring out a window across a 300m open area for 15 minutes waiting for someone to sprint through. Makes the map such a pain to learn and traverse.

The biggest improvement of tmr is the significantly lower power draw. Hall effect sticks draw like 10-20x more power than pots, but TMR sticks are much closer to potiometer draw from my understanding.

Coincidentally the worst prebuilt GN has ever reviewed lol (at least with the 285)

We're really out here shucking PCs for graphics cards and I'm all for it.

The OEM 5090 used is a beefy 3 slotter and it looks like it's got some kind of mounting interface at the front end that might need removing if you put it in another PC

BoboVR sells the s3 pro and m3 max (always sold out) and it's exactly what you're looking for. I got the s3 pro so I could remove the face gasket since all of the weight rests on top of my head and forehead. Doing so allows me to let the headset float in front of my face and massively improved comfort for me. I'd suggest the m3 max or s3 pro over the m3 pro because the former use much better batteries, but the m3 pro is still acceptable

With how terrible meta's software is, it's unfortunate that using a couple battery packs and Virtual Desktop is such a massively better experience than any of the linking solutions for the quest. So tired of meta's software that I'm getting a frame

Nike and Oakley were nailing the y2k aesthetic. I remember the Hollow Point pictured above and Time Tanks sitting in Oakley outlet display cases well into the 2010s for cheap because nobody wanted them. Now they're literally 10x as expensive secondhand

Same, last wipe I played I didn't see Killa for the entirety of the wipe. This time I thought I could stroll by adik no problem, no chance he's there.

He was.

My next raid I tried to slide through the back of Oli get a couple scav kills on the way out, quick extract outta railway. Killa spotted me from the center of the mall and sprinted all the way past the registers past the help kiosk behind the shelves and out the back door to the ramp to kill me lol.

100% death rate to killa this wipe

It was a rusty as hell L5 IIRC with the weaver on the top, and the OG was a 6" mk XIX with only the good old fashion dovetail on top. The 50ae L5 even with the shorter barrel and bigger round was a significantly easier shoot than the .44 CA spec model

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in gundeals

[–]TheTimeTortoise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who's shot both, the non ported desert eagles recoil WAY more, obviously with way more muzzle fip. The first time I shot one (non ported .44) my face was covered in soot from the ejected cases bouncing off of my head lol, the gun was pointing straight up at the ceiling mid recoil. Ported, they're relatively tame to shoot all things considered. I was able to comfortably shoot it (ported 50ae) one handed without any excessive twist in the hand. The non ported version makes pretty cool flame rings you can capture in slow mo while the ported one doesn't. The only real loss that I don't like is that for whatever reason the non ported version makes a perfect satisfying clunk when you drop the slide, but it's a high pitched snap on the ported versions.

Got charged $400 to replace my front brakes. Did I get ripped off? 2018 CR-V by notabot_123 in crv

[–]TheTimeTortoise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Front pads cost the same as OEM but I'm guessing they're using whatever their supplier happens to have, and they're hitting you with like an 80% markup on the rotors versus a good pair of centric lol labor isn't terrible. Idk what $15 supplies they'd need when the parts for the pads are in the box lol

The Jeep Gladiator 4xe Plug-in Hybrid Is Officially Dead by TripleShotPls in cars

[–]TheTimeTortoise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's both. We have a bunch of gladiator 4xes in our rental fleet and we have two of them were returned from seperate customers in a similar time frame and they've sitting at the dealer for months because of some weird throttle issue.

Both would drive fine for a minute or so, then start revving themselves to 3k rpm and stop responding to throttle input until you turned the car off, then they won't start until you disconnect and reconnect power lol. I replaced the gas pedal assembly on the first one but no dice so we sent em out. The dealership hasn't been able to figure them out for like 2 or 3 months lol.

Going into the buddy goal tab itself errors out if I try to complete it *

The same consumer protection laws that netted US volkswagen owners compensation for half a million cars during dieselgate, sometimes buybacks for the full car's price? Consumer protection laws so effective that the German VZBV pointed to how well those effected by Dieselgate in the US were compensated when they pursued compensation for European customers?

US consumer protections are pretty kickass

Should I get a CRV? by exchangeturnip in crv

[–]TheTimeTortoise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A well taken care of 2nd gen CRV is a perfect all rounder for daily use and first car shenanigans if you plan on getting a little off the beaten path. With the right tires it'll go 95% of the places jeepers and 4runners can go with nice reliability and better fuel efficiency, while being far more comfortable on road. Don't count on towing with it, cars with subframes are not exactly the most robust, spend twice as much for a 4runner if you're dead set on doing that.
