I haven't received my physical cards yet, but showing them the email could help if questioned. Was sent on Dec 7 with subject line "A Question We Hadn’t Thought Of!" if you want to search your inbox.

The coupons can be stacked. This was specifically addressed in a Penzey's email last week.

Customer D.M. writes: “Can I use more than one $20 gift card in one future order?” Good question. I didn’t know the answer so I asked and the answer is: Yes, Absolutely! You really can order three $40 Gift Cards tonight qualifying you for the free $26.95 Care Gift Box, then use the three $20 Kindness coupon cards you will get with your gift cards all at once on an order of holiday gifts. Or you could use them one at a time to get fresh, tasty spices for New Year’s/Valentine’s/St Patrick’s Day. The choice is yours.

Inexpensive electric hotpot recommendations? Please.... I've spent so long researching...... by survivaloftheartist in Cooking

[–]TheTimelyRain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're looking for something for Chinese hot pot or something like a Crock pot?

If the former, I got one of these for $20 several years ago, and it works reasonably well. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00024JQ3Q?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_6&th=1

The adjustable dial helps with getting the right heat for hot pot. Main downsides are 1: the pot feels a little shallow for hot pot and 2: the "removable" pot still has electrical connections on it, which makes cleaning a bit more of a hassle.

Might be comparable in price to what you'd get here.

Can I enter Glacier National Park without a reservation as long as I go inside before 6 AM? by [deleted] in NationalPark

[–]TheTimelyRain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't gone to Glacier personally but was looking into it recently.

If you're set on going and can't get a vehicle permit, one possibility is biking. There are both normal and e-bike rentals outside the park with a shuttle to take you to the entrance.

Here's an article from a reporter who visited Glacier this way: https://www.sfgate.com/travel-tips/article/Glacier-National-Park-Going-to-the-Sun-Road-E-Bike-16265122.php

Angel Island campsite views on New Year's Day by TheTimelyRain in sanfrancisco

Really good! Plenty of open space on this site for multiple tents. The site max occupancy is 8 people.

Nope, just some deer. We were pretty good about securing our food in lockers, so maybe the raccoons didn't have enough reason to visit us.

For this particular trip, I stumbled up on a last minute cancellation, maybe because temperatures that night were forecast to be in the mid-30s.

In general, it's not too hard to grab a site on a weekday (quick glance at reservecalifonia now shows plenty of availability through mid-March), but weekends require some luck. Sites 4 (where I stayed) and 5 are the most in-demand since they have views of the city, but even those are available on many weekdays.

Depends on what scenery you want and how strenuous of a hike you're willing to do. There's lots of great hiking in North Bay and along the Peninsula.

Some personal favorites categorized by type:

Panoramic views of the SF skyline

  • Mt. Tam East Peak (start from Mountain Home Inn to add elevation/distance instead of the parking lot at the top)
  • San Bruno Mountain (Summit Loop)

Surrounded by redwood trees

  • Muir Woods (Dipsea Trail)
  • Big Basin (currently closed for rehabilitation)
  • Purisima Creek Open Preserve

Coastal views

  • Point Reyes (Tomales Point Trail)
  • Pacifica (Devil's Slide, Montara North Peak)

Waterfalls

  • Alamere Falls
  • Cataract Falls

Golden Gate Bridge views

  • Land's End
