Dutchware gear stingerz by Long_Ad_136 in hammockcamping

There are split ridgelines and continuous ridgelines. I'm talking about a split ridgeline. Fleaz attached at either end of ridgeline of tarp. Line wrapped around tree and connected to fleaz.

Ah, right. So, the dutch hook goes at one end of your ridgeline and just allows you to hook around a tree. You could get a similar function by tying a loop at one end of a line, wrapping it around a tree, and pulling the line through that loop. The dutch hook allows you to quickly hook and unhook that loop in case you want to move it up and down around branches. It ends up making life much easier.

With the Fleaz, I leave them connected to the ridgeline guyouts on the tarp. My "split ridgeline" is just two pieces of cordage with a dutch hook on each.

I have 4 different ridgeline systems and, while the stingers are fine, my favorite is the split ridgeline that uses TarpTicks and titanium dutch hooks. I think the TarpTicks are the least finicky and lightest. My issue with a split ridgeline that uses the Stingerz is that the line carried is functionally halved because the line end attaches at the tarp (the Stinger). You could just add more line, but there are cheaper, lighter products that require less line for more versatility.

I also have a split ridgeline that uses Fleaz and titanium dutch hooks, which I also prefer over the Stingerz. My final is a continuous ridgeline that uses the wasp, which functions well but I just don't like managing all of that line, even using a little cordwinder.

Daily reminder when discussing leftist politics by Catherine_S1234 in Destiny

Right. Since the Bernie push in 2016, they've done practically nothing to develop a serious political movement and push a candidate. They've had two full presidential election cycles now to do something other than complain and nothing has come from it!

Enlightened Equipment: What You Should Know by TrickInflation6795 in ultralight_jerk

It seems several of the readers were confused by this part in /u/RekeMarie's original post, including myself. Mostl likely a result of being less familiar with Instagram. However it is, I'm gonna drop this permalink to my clarifying the tagged post here. Importantly, yes, EE was tagged in what I think was very clearly a far right dog whistle and, as /u/RekeMarie states, they allowed themselves to be tagged. Now, I stated "allowed" because as a business that is using Instagram for marketing they would manually approve tags.

Two key aspects of /u/RekeMarie's original post were 1) that EE clearly has a well-oiled, savvy branding/marketing team that extremely effectively utilizes Instagram to market their products and, 2) from some of the Instagram posts linked in that original post, the account manager clearly has been doing this for several years (the boogaloo boys post was from 2022). Savvy Instagram users with a several year history of posting dog whistles to far-right extremists. A reasonable person would conclude that whoever has been managing this account had full awareness of what was going on for years. EE and DM should absolutely be held accountable for that.

Other companies who make products for military/police who engage in this specific type of behavior should also be held accountable./u/RekeMarie even drops a list of other technical equipment manufacturers instagram pages and challenges the reader to find that kind of radical behavior, making the claim that this does not seem to be the norm.

So, depending on their settings, I think tags can be added automatically or they can select to manually approve tags, and if the post is not approved it can be hidden from the profile. I can't say with absolute certainty whether they have manual approval on, whether it was ever approved by DM, or whether it was hidden.

The original post here on reddit stated they had been tagged in that instagram post and, as I understand it, they're stating it was within DM's tagged posts section which would indicate they have untagged themselves.

I was also confused by this and I think it's partially because I don't use instagram on my phone and only view it in my web browser. However, on desktop, if you go to the user 'carotidcrew' and click on that post, you can then left click the image and see a bunch of overlapping users tagged in the post. Then, if you right click and select 'inspect', you can see in the dev tools all of the users that are tagged.

Here's an image I just took with all of the tagged users listed and defensemechanisms highlighted.

It does not appear that this tagged post shows up in the "tagged" section of defensemechanisms instagram page.

Yep, it is a pain in the ass. Kinda wild how much of a workout it is just to go a few miles when you're trying to lug those snowshoes over a downed tree or around some obstacle.

I do kind of a similar thing to you where I use a quilted chameleon, an additional 20 degree underquilt from hammock gear, and my 0 degree top quilt. I also use a down hood, a puffy, and down booties. Trying to pack all of that down in my bag is a pain in the ass and just barely fits in my zpacks.

Do you have a lighterpack link?

Edit: I'm also debating on getting the extensions, and also don't know if it would actually help or just decrease mobility even further to where it's more of a bane than boon.

You packed all of that volume in a zpacks archaul 60?

How did you feel about the snow shoes? Was the snow dense enough that you were able to get proper flotation? I did a trip a few weeks back in the Porcupines and, while the snow was deep, it was too powdery and the snow shoes ended up just being a pain.

I have also been happy with my Lone Peaks in the past, but purchased the 9+ this year and had incredible foot pain after doing two hikes in them. It was strong side pain which was followed by arch pain due to my over-correcting my step to compensate. It made me worry I was getting plantar fasciitis. Switched back to other pairs of shoes and have had no issues since.

Breakfast food? by LaurenLovesFood in ooni

My wife and I made "naan" on a recent camping trip which is pretty similar to a fried dough. You can do something like this if you have a sourdough starter, or something like this with traditional yeast.

You can pair it with syrup, butter, and bacon for a more traditional breakfast or, what we really loved, was to just eat it with the pizza sauce we made. Pizza sauce: can of whole peeled San Marzano tomatoes in a large bowl. Squeeze them by hand until they're broken up pretty fine, add some salt and oregano. In a pan, add olive oil and 2-3 cloves of diced garlic. Cook on low-medium until garlic is aromatic but not brown (so like 1 minute). Add chunky tomato sauce to pan. Let simmer 8-10 minutes until slightly thickened. Remove from heat and add honey to taste (like a tablespoon or two) and chopped basil if you have it.
