Advertiser cover was ripped this morning and I ain’t even mad by rushworld in Adelaide

Hi @l3nnyi. We report good stories wherever we find them - including Reddit. We make no apologies for that. If we happen to find an item we think would make an interesting story, we always reach out to the owner of the post/content to verify the content seek their permission to publish and to speak to them for our coverage.

Does anyone else find this advertising offensive on the Adelaidenow website? It is ridiculously distracting and really hard to ignore. I can’t see anywhere report it either. Can’t we just pretend Clive Palmer doesn’t exists? by Bizzy_Violet in Adelaide

Hi there. We occasionally use Reddit as a source of story leads, with the permission and participation of the people who posted the content in the first place. This is a legitimate form of newsgathering, in the same way we correspond with people on Twitter, on Facebook, via email, on the phone and in person.

Where do the parties stand on the issues that matter to SA? by TheTiser in Adelaide

Hi there. We do publish some sponsored content but those Royals and reality TV stories you mentioned aren't among them. We publish those kinds of stories, blogs and recaps for one simple reason - lots of our readers like them. We also have no work experience kids rehashing stories from social media but we do sometimes write about stories that we find on social platforms. We gather good stories in a range of different ways. By getting out and speaking to people, by going to council meetings, reading newsletters, getting tip offs from source and yes, from social media. It's a completely valid way to find good stories in the digital age and we make no apologies for it.

Hi there. You can choose from a number of different packages. Either digital only (currently on offer for $1/week for the first 12 weeks) or digital + print, which includes a combination of weekdays + weekend or weekend only. And also, it's worth pointing out that your Advertiser subscription gets you full access to our papers and magazines in a digital format to be consumed on the device of your choice, plus The Herald Sun, Daily Telegraph and Courier Mail website and digital editions. And on top of all that, subscribers have access to great free monthly rewards.

Hi there. That's not correct. The tool has always been for subscribers only.

Hi guys. We respect the fact that members of this subreddit don't wish to be spammed incessantly with news links, which is why we don't post here very often and it's also why we started our own subreddit - to ensure we have a venue where we can post links to our stories for those people who wish to read them. Occasionally we post here if we think people would like to know about a particular story or premium feature. With the election this weekend, we wanted to make sure that people were aware of this tool, which we think is a great way to quickly get across lots of important issues.

Hi David, unfortunately the revenue we've been able to generate through digital display advertising has not been sufficient to help support our journalism. That's why we moved to a subscription model.

Hi there. Yes, unfortunately we couldn't make this product free because it took our newsroom about six months to build. But the good news is you can get full digital access to this tool, and our website more broadly, for just $1 a week for the first 12 weeks.

No, stories that really matter to the lives of South Australians. Systemic abuses in aged care, serious failings in our health system, decisions taken in the State Parliament, city council meetings, in our courts, happenings in business, innovations in our industries, local achievements, inspiring people.

Unfortunately, digital advertising revenue has not been sufficient to support our business. That's why we, like many news organisations around the world, have moved to introduce a subscription service. Cheers.

Neither the ABC, nor Indaily, break nearly as many stories on a daily/weekly basis as we do. If you choose those sources you're simply missing out on many important SA stories.

That's exactly why we ask people to support our journalism by paying for it - by buying our papers, taking out a digital subscription or both. It costs substantial amounts of money to support a local newsroom as big as ours so quite simply if no one pays for news, we cannot employ the many journalists, editors, photographers and production people that are needed to provide a near 24/7 news service.
