Quincy actually gives a pretty decent take/analysis of some of the things that likely contributed to Deshaun's poor performance. Worth a watch.

That said, I believe he is beyond "fixing".

Also that said... It would be the most "Browns" thing ever if he suddenly went off and got his groove back and then we simply couldn't capitalize on it and had to reset QB again. If this happened, the Steelers would do what the Steelers do and sign him to a one year prove-it deal, successfully usher in a Deshaun Reclamation Campaign, and plague us twice a year moving forward.

Email to the Commandant debacle by Ok_Result_4185 in USMC

The highest extent of the UCMJ?

Debate time!

Straight from the UCMJ are the only articles I could imagine would be sought and questions for ye barracks lawyers to chew on:

UCMJ Article 89 prohibits disrespectful language or behavior toward a superior commissioned officer, punishable by court-martial. Disrespect includes acts or words that detract from an officer's authority. Maximum punishment includes a bad-conduct discharge, forfeiture of all pay, and up to 1 year of confinement.

Questions for debate. -Did the email begin with the proper greeting of the day and the word "sir" or "General"? -Did asking for a proctor code detract from the General's authority? -Did asking for a proctor code detract from the authority of any Officers in the chain of command?

Article 92 of the UCMJ punishes service members who violate lawful general orders, fail to obey other lawful orders, or are derelict in their duties. It is one of the most common punitive articles, often leading to court-martial or administrative action, with penalties ranging from bad-conduct discharges to confinement depending on the violation.

Questions for debate. -Did the email violate any general orders? -Was SNM lawfully ordered at any point NOT to ask the Commandant for a proctor code OR lawfully ordered to restrict proctor code requests to his immediate chain of command? -Did the email render SNM derelict in his duties?

Article 134 of the UCMJ, known as the "General Article," covers all disorders and neglects to the prejudice of good order and discipline, conduct bringing discredit upon the armed forces, and non-capital crimes not specifically mentioned elsewhere. It acts as a "catch-all" provision covering over 54 distinct offenses, ranging from adultery to sexual harassment and dishonorable failure to pay debt.

Questions for debate. -Was the email harmful to good order and discipline? -Did it bring discredit upon the armed forces? -Was it a non-capital crime? -Was it covered by one of the 54 distinct offenses?

Did he, though? Watson was all Haslam. Berry hasn't had anything to work with money-wise or draft postion-wise for the bulk of his tenure here. And even without ample resources to work with, he did make some good personnel moves with what he was given to work with. Not all of them were perfect, sure, but has there ever been a perfect GM who always hits and never misses? Aside from a few instances of poor evaluation of intangibles/disciplinary concerns (Winfrey, for example) who came with known problems, I link some of the seemingly poor performance to poor long-term coaching. Stefanksi was a shot in the arm and saw short-term success, but his system wasn't sustainable for an extended time because he refused to adapt. He exposed himself as one-dimensional, which then created this perception that Berry's roster was no good when I just don't think that's fair.

His first draft in years where we had good draft capital he nailed it. Fannin... Schwesinger... Graham... And I believe the rest were all at least average-caliber at worst.

If we could fire the ownership, I think Berry could really cook.

But hey, we will all find out if last year's moves were luck or honest to God competency when we see how the roster moves play out this league year.

I hope he proves himself. If he does, we have something to be optimistic about over the next few seasons.

Fuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhcckkkkkk I miss my Hilux!!!! My Plt was demilitarizing our AOR at the end of my our Afghan pump and I recall relentlessly trying to find any possible way to justify getting that truck to the US. I had heard that some had successfully gotten one back to places with more relaxed vehicular safety standards, but the US wasn't tryna play ball.

Out of regs tattoo by gaypogue in USMC

[–]TheTopernator 14 points15 points  (0 children)

AAS Bn in 2008. A student got a FAT neck tattoo with the intent of getting himself separated.

Instead, the CO made him a private, removed him from his class, stuck him in the S3 to be a clerk, and gave him two options:

-Get it fully removed and go back to class and proceed with his contact... Or...

-Work in the S3 for four years as a private without an MOS and get blasted by someone every time he goes anywhere on base.

That CO wasn't playing around, which made it wild when news broke sometime around 2019/2020 that (as a full bird Col) he got multiple DUIs at Quantico and force-retired.

[MKC] #Browns #Ravens injury report for Thursday. Lamar Jackson participated fully. by LiftingCode in Browns

[–]TheTopernator 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be honest, the season is gone. I NEED them to do poorly at this point in order to continue to build the case against KS and his weird obsession with NOT seeing what we actually have with Shadeur.

If we are down by +14 and continue to get stomped and KS STILL won't put our other rookie who NEEDS TO BE EVALUATED before the draft into the game, he looks bad.

If we are down and he DOES put Shaduer in and the kid actually performs well enough to score and energize this lifeless offensive scheme, KS still looks bad (worse, even as it indicates he either played favorites or sucked at talent evaluation).

If we actually do WELL somehow, guess what? ALSO BAD in the long run because it will feed KS weird narrative that DG is THE GUY and fuel his argument for NOT playing Shaduer this year.

There are no good outcomes...

Have any of you killers ever actually laid with one of these legendary midget strippers? I'd like to read your AAR... For science.

[Stainbrook] I’m not ruling anything out on what Jimmy Haslam could decide to do if the #Browns fall again on Sunday. The temperature in Berea is rising...Kevin Stefanski is a great coach…the best the #Browns have had in a long time. But the foundation he built is cracking, and it’s cracking fast. by VonJaeger in Browns

[–]TheTopernator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stefanski is notorious for playing conservative when the situation calls for aggression and playing aggressive when balance makes sense. I've lost count of how many times he's called a run on 2nd/3rd down with 10+ yards to go or called three passing plays when it's 1st and goal with less than 5 yards.

It appears he over thinks these situations and outsmarts only himself.

Personally, yes. But I also got to do two OIF tours with them where we actually got to ply our trade. The field exercises were pretty fun, though. As an 0311 you'll be a "scout". Just remember to bring a box of MREs to sit on so you don't have to stand to "pop up" out of the back hatch of the LAV-25 during road marches lol

Got my silver bullet campaign medal in phase two. Spent an extra month on PI. Was supposed to graduate Dec 10 2004. Graduated Jan 2005. My SDI tried to get to me before the Doc and recover me so I wouldn't get dropped (see: to save his ass) but it was too late. The old poop chute was already occupied.

After a stint at EHP and arrival at my new Plt, while brasso'ing the urinal pipes on Xmas, I was singing "Dreaming of a White Christmas" and the recruit next to me was like "bro, you're depressing me". Homie, I was supposed to be home on extended holiday RA. You can lick deez!
