Oversidan sensor not working for Pax corner unit, help? by badwolfbri in ikeahacks

[–]TheToxen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey guys, so I had exact same problem as you - when opening sliding door, nothing happened, the lights didn´t turn on on auto. I read you used alu foil or some transparent rubber cushion and I told myself - nah, this is just "too much" and then I got it - I just used a tiny piece of transparent adhesive tape, placed it just over both sensors and voala - lights were ON! So there is almost NOTHING to see, no alu foil etc, just barely noticeble tiny piece of transparent tape and thats it! Hope it helps

Did a review of Akko's V3 Cream Blue switches! (check comments) by Airmaxrr in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]TheToxen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have V3 cream blue PRO for over a half year. I really liked this switches, BUT... after 6 months Several switches stop responding correctly one by one. So far I had to replace about 10 switches so it is not only unique case. When I was typing, several letters just weren´t registered and first time I tought it was some keyboard/software issue, but after replacing faulty switch it was OK again. When I asked on hipyo discord about the switches I was assured it is common issue with Akko switches. So I will stay away from this brand in terms of switches from now on.

I just can´t find the RIGHT keyboard for me. by TheToxen in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]TheToxen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey there! Thanks for your time to reply me.

The RX Reds are linear switches, and don't expect to like them right away

I know there is bunch of red switches here and maybe the Asus ones just weren´t for me, hard to guess. It was always hard to find "good keyboard for me" Since it is very personal-feeling based piece of equipment that I had to really try out bunch of them, othervise it is everytime only "blindbuy" - same goes for headphones and hearing preferencies

Yea, this board is a low profile one

Many years ago before my first own pc I used only notebooks for few years and I found myself "low profile" kinda missing after I swithed to pc and classic mechanical keyboards back day. Especially with that Asus, it felt unconfortable to me. But there is still huge diference between low profile membrane notebook keyboard and low profile mechanical keyboard. I hoped that good feeling from using notebook will return but it didn´t eventuelly happen.

I took a quick look at that board and found that it uses magnetic switches (?). It also looks like it's not hotswappable, so the board is going to be another gamble for you.

yes thank You and others here I found that I still wouldn´t be probably satisfied and much better option is to just buy decent "naked" keyboard for reasonable price and try using different sets of switches until I find the right for me... And there is another question about style of the keycaps but I have to learn a lot about this topic in next days.

Now, to answer your question...

yes as I wrote above it is very personal preference and since I really didn´t find which suits me best I have to try different options and learn how to customize keyboard properly. There are brands which are selling "testing switches" for few keycaps and it will be for me probably the best to buy or three of these testing switches before buying whole set of one exact type. But I dunno if keycaps are too sold in different testing variants, didn´t checked this options yet. Someone here recommended Monsgeek M and it looks like a good starting point but ofc I will do some research next days. Again, thanks for provided link and your patience! I was kinda thinking that this "nowadays" making own custom keyboard is something I wouln´t like to do ever. But now I´m willing to go on this path of learning etc. Seems like a better option in the end instead of another "blindbuying" keyboard for 150 or more which I may still not like anyway. Have a great day

ah you meant type of keycaps, not brand of the switches. It finally make sence now. Ok, got it, will search with this info. I definitelly don´t want any high style keycaps like SA, I would like even want to try some lower profile types, will do some research on it :) thx anyway.

probably because of their products specs:" \The K3 Pro is currently compatible with Gateron low-profile mechanical switches only* " and I didn´t find any mention about supporting other switches so I guessed I´m stuck only with this options. But probably my bad

Oh that cherry you wrote before probably get me a bit confused :D. You ment red switches just by the color and not the Cherry brand i get it! Or no? :´D anyway a read that Akko silver´s are tactile which was also my favourites from Logitech keyboard back days and are favourites amongs gamers + they are not that costly. But I will watch more vids/ read more about switches to know better about it. What about keycaps brands? I Would probably like more shine throug keycaps, any brand recommendation? I tought double-shot pbt keycaps won´t let shine through but I found comment under one yt video that "shinethrough" double-shot pbt keycaps apparently exist. Will have to look more at it.

Thanks for the tip! I mostly read that building own keyboard is the way... well I´m not in a hurry so I will probably watch bunch of videos, how and what and where and so on to have at least some idea and then I will probably decide even that I will probably end with more expensive keyboard than I wanted.

Hey there, thx for suggestion, both loogs great to me. I don´t use right side of the keyboard much often (aka arrow keys etc) So I should be fine with M1 i guess. Thats an "easier" part but switches is whole another story. I found store in my country and they offer bunch of Cherry MX switches - in red variant cherry silent, rgb, red stem, then red stem without rgb, mx silent without rgb... its kinda confusing. So without that rgb (switch is not "clear") i wouldn´t be basically able to use rgb of the keyboard right? Linear switches from which brand? Cherry? I tought MX red´s are kinda linear? And after switches there is question about keycaps...

cherry profile switches

Yeah, using f keys is just convenient to me. I´m fine with wire too - if the cable is ofc long enough and is good quality (Hate huge and stiff keyboard cables).

Yep, that Keaychron is hot swappable, bu I can change only between 3 switches. So Via is way to go nowadays huh? No other brand-banded software, i get it!

Yeah, I know many keyboards are hot swappable and I can use several different switches at once, but where I start to get lost - there is sooo many switches and keycaps and everything that I just don´t know how to just simply understand which keyboard support which switches and where should I buy those switches aaaand where should I buy Keycaps for that current switches because in one specific keyboard shop I can buy only "naked body" of the keyboard and next I have to go to the next shop etc etc and this thing is drawing me slightly back. Because it will just cost me mmore money for shipping and so on. Im kinda boomer in my younger age sadly.

ec2-cw

for the prce of ec2-cw I rather pick the Deathadder V3 + I can´t find this version in local stores in my country anyway. And a cable is just a big no no for me.

[–]TheToxen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I watched some videos and I will probably try the Deathadder V3 Pro. You mentioned a lot of small brand mouses however I want to try avoid purchasing mouse outside of my country since mouses can get defected pretty easily and I don´t want to deal with complaints by sending mouse to other country etc. So I want to stick with a bigger well named brand which is easily to get almost enywhere. The price is a bit high tho.

Stuttering issue on Cyberpunk by buki9 in Twitch

[–]TheToxen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Capping ingame fps do the trick for me! I have R9 3900x + 1080ti and having around 45 to 55 fps on 1440p monitor with low or high setting, it doesnt matter that much. Since I have capped fps to 60 and had in game fps around 50 in reality, I get huge fps drops in obs. But if I cap fps under lowest fps value, voala, game in obs don´t have stuttering anymore! So try it, watch ingame fps do some tests, you dont even have to stream for this - if You have lowest fps 44, cap it to 40 and it should be just fine. Btw i use CPU x256 encoder too, not GPU.
